Maybe someone should contact them.

Anyone got a model number for the headunit yet?

This is exactly what I wanted to know. I use a windows mobile smart phone and would love to be able to use the music I have stored on the device and control via the radio rather than fiddling with the phone to play through he AUX. Plus having hands free is always nice.

Wow, if I could use this to plug in a USB stick full of MP3's to the factory stereo, that would be awesome. They say "connection of bluetooth and USB compatible devices to Blaupunkt aftermarker radios/RNS systems with CDC interface..."

I hope the G8 system has a CDC interface!

I wish I could find a pic of the back of the radio. that may help answer a lot of questions. Any help from our Aussie friends who have had these radios for a while???

I would think that there has to be some interface built into the radio since the car comes with Bluetooth in Australia.

If you take off the drivers side panel next to the radio it will give you all the connections to the radio, not to sure about the g8 but in the ve ssv yes. Try that and see how you go

I should be able to pop up some pics. I'm very interested, because I have my iPod, iPhone, and I would love to add bluetooth calling. That's a great find Cashed. Thanks!

I am curious how it responds on my iPhone. I used to have an aftermarket Alpine in my truck and in order to connect my iPhone, I had to put the phone in airplane mode. otherwise the speakers would play constant distortion. Drove me mad...but that is why I have an iPod too!

I don't see why they wouldn't include support for this in their radio, I'm they are using similar boards to what they use in all their radios. I doubt they would reinvent the wheel and develop a totally seperate I/O system for the car, but i could be wrong which is why we need the visual evidence. Unfortunately Blaupunkt doesn't seem to have any USA contact numbers for questions.

I was looking in the technical specs to see if there was anything that would say it they wouldn't work. The iPod interface looks simple enough. Plug & play. These are the links to the US web pages of the same parts. This may give more technical specs so that the real geeks can see if they will work. There is also a FAQ page for the Bluetooth on the US links.

well that depends on if the radeo has the proper connetions in the back and is compatable with this controller. I guess we wont know until someone decides to pop their radeo and look.

I called Blaupunkt and technical support said that none of their accessories will work on GM oem products!!! Someone needs to pull the unit out and take some pictures.

Okay I called the dealer where I bought my G8 from, and the aftermarket department said they will be putting a device in the G8 that will allow the iPod to work from the rear Aux. She also said that she’ll call me when it’s done.

Maybe I can find out what type of product they’ll be using? I’ll also take some pictures.

That is good news. Thanks for going through the trouble of doing more research for us. my fingers are crossed...

We got wind of this 6 weeks ago:

The personal audio link will be a dealer installed accessory.

based on the link above and per the info in the links that I posted at the top of this thread, both units appear to be completely different. the dealer option is not used in conjunction with your CD changer controls as the item I found on Blaupunkts website appears. But the deal option almost sounds like an rf modulator...only it is using XM frequencies instead of FM frequencies. not a fan of modulators if that is the case, but it may be the only way to go...

When did dealerships start opening up "aftermarket" departments?

Not real sure when they started after market sales. I know at Beck & Masten Dealership (Houston, TX) it is a totally different department! I told her that if this part works like she says it does, that I would post the information on the forum and maybe it can draw some business for them. Anyway, let's see if what she has to offer actually works, because if it does, I am next on the list and I will definately post pictures and whatever else you need.

Here is the only full demo I have found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSDqktd_HNo

I suffered through the guys antics, but the GM guy did provide some good info. It does look like it may use XM for the interface. Of course, this may vary from car to car. GM may use the rear aux port for PAL on the G8.

Seemed like the last person in the world to have 50 Cent on his iPod! And, gbcop, they did seem very FRIENDLY with one another.

I found this link as well. I have emailed the company to see if they offer a solution for the G8s.
