...and also picked up my first speeding ticket, 17 miles later! :drink:

Time for a defensive driving class!

Wow, I imagined that happening to me last night. My foot just, well it has a problem. Good luck with the driving class.

Thanks. Here in Texas we can take an online defensive driving course for $25, pay court fees (around $100) and get the ticket dismissed as long as the speed wasn't too egregious.

And what, pray tell, was the speed? Informed minds want to know...just how carried away did you get?:burnout:

It must not have been more than 25mph over the posted speed limit, that's the limit here in TX for being elegible for defensive driving. Sorry to hear about the ticket. Did you show the cop the purchase paperwork and claim to not realize you were going that fast due to driving a new car?

But what was the limit? Could've been 70 and he was just under 95!?! Should've let the cop drive it, then he'd have understood!:gears:

My whole family is scared that I will be in the same boat as you are. My thoughts are that I ride bikes that hit 60 in less than 3 seconds and have top speeds well over what the G8 does and I haven't had any tickets... (Knock on wood) But now they and you have me worried too... lol

Thats because cops rarely stop bikes. Hell whats the point, if you run we damn sure can't catch you.

Not much of a story, I'm afraid. I was clocked at 78 in a 60 zone.

See, the vehicle that I have been driving (and am now turning over to my older daughter) is a 2001 Nissan Xterra. When that thing is going 80, you know it - the wind noise is almost painful and you have to keep your foot well into the throttle to maintain that speed.

So here I am in a brand-new, quiet, stable, powerful car, not really paying attention to the speedo and the thing just seems to have a comfort zone at 80mph.

Too bad it was out of the cop's comfort zone, though! :eek2:

Har, har.....I ride a Kawasaki ZX-12R so I'm no stranger to ridiculous power-to-weight ratios. That didn't help me yesterday!

Congrats man and thank goodness the G8 has an "over-speed warning" setting. ;)

Was it a Statie? Dude, you got a higher speed limiter! 133 vs. 137.

Nah, a local guy. Fort Worth, Texas cop with a friggin' British accent. He probably immigrated so he could own a gun. :patriot:

Cars in different areas have different speed limiters?

Fort Worth Police have been on a mission as of late. They havent nabbed me yet (knock on wood)...but I see 4 of them every morning on the way to work and 4 on the way home. End of the month...

How does that work anyway?

You can set a preference in the "driver information center" that will cause chimes to sound if your speed exceeds a threshold that you define.

^^^^ What he said.

With the autobahn and twisty back roads we have over here this feature will be very essential. Lol!
