: Webasto Hollandia 700 Sunroof installed!! PIX
vhato 03-27-2008, 09:09 PM Here they are, sorry its night. But it came out great!!!
I just dunno how I feel about the deflector, so I took pix with it installed and removed. PLEASE tell me what you think!!!
And had I waited just 6 days I would have had the EXACT G8 I wanted with the ultra sweet 19s. I am "almost" sick about it. Stealer is considering a swap. We will see.
Which one, with deflector or without? May be hard to see.

devon9832 03-27-2008, 09:11 PM With because it really doesn't make too much of a styling difference.
G8#278 03-27-2008, 11:57 PM So you got yours without the sunroof and added it? Why not get the factory sunroof? Just wondering as I got one of the 888's without a sunroof and wouldn't mind one
Ryan M 03-28-2008, 03:03 AM I have seen some big/tacky looking deflectors but this one doesn't look too bad. Its really just a personal preference.
Personally I would go without because I have seen old cars take their deflectors off after 150k+ miles and it looks like crap under there....
vhato 03-28-2008, 06:35 AM G8#278,
I got it without because the dealer said he couldn't guarantee anything. So what I saw is what I could get. I wanted a Sunroof and 19s. Now they have a car with 19s there, but still no sunroof. Trust me I wold have gotten the option had it been available. I just found out this car existed only a few weeks ago so I bought as soon as I could.
I can't decide either. Either way, congrats!
chiefpontiac 03-28-2008, 07:34 AM G8#278,

Typical dealer BS. Customers have to wake up and investigate everything before walking through the door. Impetuous buying plays right into their hands. We have the tools to know what the dealer has coming - or who has what we want. Sure hope in your rush to purchase you got the sunroof thrown in for free and did not pay a dime over msrp. :stickpoke:
Okay, off-rant. Install looks good except for some headliner wrinkling I hope is just a reflection. Leave off the windscreen and it will look more stock from the outside - rarely do I see a deflector added to a factory roof on a domestic brand.
G8 Lover 03-28-2008, 12:10 PM I agree with Chief. Pretty good installation but I would travel without the deflector.
vhato 03-28-2008, 01:15 PM Thanks for the opinions. Deflector is gone and I love it!!
I paid $895 for the roof, no wrinkles. Sure it would have been nice to negotiate, but the dealer didn't care if I bought the car or not as:
1. there were plenty of people admiring it
2. it was mentioned several places in threads here that none of the 888's had sunroofs anyway (typical of the internet)
I will drive it for 3-4 years then get something else. So far I am absolutely enjoying the car.
veritasatis 03-28-2008, 02:24 PM Looks good!
Without was the right decision. IMHO
DV327 03-28-2008, 08:48 PM I agree! Looks good!!
04m6gto 03-29-2008, 04:48 AM I agree, without it was the right decision!
Torqued 04-10-2008, 06:30 PM what do aftermarket installs typically cost? a local dealer wants $1100.
CodeJockey 04-10-2008, 08:28 PM What I like about this is that you got to keep the sunglasses holder. I'd still prefer to get the sun roof from the factory, though. Cutting open the roof on a brand new car just sounds like a bad idea. Yours looks good, though.
vhato 04-11-2008, 06:35 AM This one cost $950.00. On the test drive I asked the salesman about ordering one with w/sunroof and he said why wait, lets go over here and have them do it. So on the test drive we rolled up and the old dude said he would do it to the dealer for $950, and they didn't mark it up.
Had one put in my wifes Mustang yesterday (but it was a "spoiler" model since Mustangs have no room to hold a slide in sunroof) for $800.00. Sun roof has been open everyday since I started this thread. Totally worth while.
Rue_G8GT 04-11-2008, 07:06 AM Looks great! Definitely without the deflector though.
fatback 04-11-2008, 09:18 PM How much head room did you lose?
superNoid 04-11-2008, 09:20 PM No deflector
vhato 04-11-2008, 10:02 PM How much head room did you lose?
*IF* I lost any, I cannot tell where. I am sure I did, but even at 6' tall I can't tell.
Speedfreak 04-11-2008, 10:17 PM Looks good, no deflector I say. How does this compare in size to the factory one?
vhato 04-11-2008, 10:41 PM I dunno how big the factory is. Never seen one.
RedVee8 04-12-2008, 12:15 AM no deflector.
White looks really good too.
I've got a Webasto sunroof in my (Holden) Astra, love it.
Torqued 04-13-2008, 04:57 PM Which Webasto model did you do with? There 6 models in the 700 series.
Thanks
vhato 04-14-2008, 06:03 AM Without measuring, I don't think it is possible to tell.
RedVee8 04-14-2008, 07:30 AM Just says Webasto Hollandia 700 in the book.
It is glass, flips or slides to a programmable position, and auto closes when the ignition is switched off.
