Any chance of an after market engine shroud? The current Gt shroud looks very uh....frugal to me.

Are you talking about the engine cover on the GT? Just leave the hood closed. I'm sure you can find lots of other ways to spend money on this dar.

Thanks for the advice but the engine shroud looks cheap compared to the rest of the car...might look better without the shroud....

I doubt if you'll find any after market support for an engine cover. There might be a cover from another vehicle with a similar engine you might like.
I did see a flamed engine cover for a WS6 recently on another forum.

you would be better off with it off, traps heat

^ A heavily debated statement.

The covers from any LS series Vette, Camaro or GTO should work, also. I have thought about the LS7 covers as the red would contrast nicely with the Panther Black.

I think I'm about tempted to take mine off... After a 30 minute drive to my buddy's house, I took the cover off and it was very hot.. Almost to the point I couldn't hold it in my hand...

Also one of my top plans to consider for the cover....

So Belo, does this mean that the engine will run better with the engine cover on?

Will it run cooler & make more horsepower?

(I haven't seen this topic debated all that often. I just assumed the car/engine would run better with the engine cover off).

I took mine off.... too cheezy. Engine looks good underneath.

Less parts = Less weight

Unlike say, a hood? :D

Remember, when you are moving, air flows through the engine and out the bottom - its designed to remove heat from the bay.

The shroud has nothing to do with engine temps - it primarily baffles noise.

I think I may have found what I will do:
linky (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?singlepart=1&AddPartNumber=17800112&partnumber=17800112)
(they also have blue, silver, orange, black, etc.) I will look around to see if I can get a better price.

My wife does not like the look of no cover at all, but she likes these and the red will contrast nicely with the black car.

No cover is the way to go...or a supercharger!

Yep, mine is off and will try and find some cool coil covers. Street and performance has them and there are usually a bunch on ebay.

Street and Performance is a good place to look. www.hotrodlane.cc
Lots of LS series engine dress up/performance parts.

I want some covers, though, that do not say Corvette or GTO. I am sure someone will come up with something like that...

I have seen polished metal strips that are available to cover up the "corvette" on the LS2 covers. Some of the Firebird and Camaro guys have been doing the same thing. They have them etched to say "Trans Am", "Camaro", etc.

I just ordered my covers from my local gm dealer. Here is the deal, this has an ls3 intake on it according to the guys on ls1tech. I thought it looked different then the ls2. It has a cover over the intake which has foam under it. Some call it an l76 intake. They must be the same from what I'm finding out. So I ordered the ls3 corvette fuel rail covers. I'll probably cover up the corvette logo and have the g888 logo etched in the polished stainless or aluminum. Just thought I'd let you know. I'll post Friday after I get them on the car.

No pics, the ls3 covers didn't work. Nothing matched up. Dipstick was off on the passenger side and drivers side wasnt' close. I'll have to work on some polished covers of my own.
