This friday evening.

Any takers?

Anybody wanting to buy a car from Nino, I suggest Friday night around 5pm is the best time. See if you can keep him till past 8pm or so. :D:D:D

I just may head on down there and see what the new A6 GXP will do. I know most of the literature states around 12.9 to 13.2, however I am guessing about 13.5-13.8. Here's why.

1. Right around 500 miles, hardly any break in time at all.
2. The MENSA I married filled the tank up yesterday with either 87 or 91 Shell gas instead of 93 octane. Which means heavy due to weight of gas and a lower octane level for (supposedly) lower performance.
3. Absolutely terrible weather, probably DA of around +2000. Great times and personal bests will be almost impossible to get.
4. Any driver needs practice on his car. I have only 'hauled azz' one time, but I did get a first-second gear chirp.
5. I do have a roto-fab, but don't have a lot of faith in the CAI's being as great as most people think they are.

Most likely I will:

Will lower the tire pressures in the rears to about 26 pounds.
Go around the water.
Get a quick burn out to clean off the tires.
Shallow stage.
I will probably leave off idle (700-750 rpm) the first couple of times, then maybe leave at 1000 or 1200.
I am anxious about wheel hop. My 05 GTO A4 had terrible wheel hop until I installed the Nitto DR's, yet my Vette didn't have any wheel hop, even on run craps.........err..........run flats.

No matter what, it should be fun. Even though it will be on a track, I am looking forward to getting my very first 'kill'.

Before I get to the bad part, let me post my times.

Actually, I am very happy with the runs, especially when I 'killed' a C6 Corvette. Don't know if the C6 was an LS2 or LS3. Either way I got the win light.

Prep: Lowered the rear tires to about 26-27 pounds. That was about all. My only mod is a rotofab CAI.

Runs 1, 3, and 4 all done the same. Either off idle, or barely off idle. The one bad thing is that in all three runs, I was going into 4th about 100' from the finish line. All runs done with traction control off and in sport mode. Not even a hint of wheel hop.

Run 1, barely any cool off time from the trip to the track. Race weight about 4200 lbs. Run 3 about 45 minute cool off period, run 4 about 15 minutes after run 3.

Run 1

60'......... 2.111
1/4.........13.377 @ 105.01

Run 2, shut up. I tried shifting in sport mode by myself. Call it a mulligan.

Run 3

60'............2.185
1/4..........13.448 @ 103.94

Run 4.........pb of the night.

60'..............2.087
1/4.............13.287 @ 106.00

DA, as predicted was 2119
This made my best run a 12.961 @ 108.731 MPH corrected for DA.

As I had mentioned, I thought a 13.5 would be what I ran. On the whole, for a new car with 500 miles, 3/4 a tank of regular unleaded, and this terrible DA, I was very happy when I left.

On the way home my hood flew open, damaging the hood, windshield, and some minor damage on the roof. A total bummer.
