: Atlanta, GA area G8's Check In Here

If you are in the Atlanta GA area or would be interested in meeting up with other G8s in the Atlanta area - check in here and sign your name and city.

Once we get a bunch of people signed in, we'll start talking about where to meet up one weekend now that the weather should be turning nice.

And I'll bet we can even find some twisty roads nearby.

I used to belong to an 94-96 Impala SS club - GaSSit started with the Internet just about the same way, and turned out to be some of the nicest folks (and flat out craziest gearheads) you'd ever want to meet.

Hey Guys,

Had our G8/GT about 10 days now. This is the first car in about 25 years that my wife and I argue about who gets to drive it to work.

Glad to see the G8s forming a community like the GTOs. We'll have to do a joint meet sometime, us GTO folks love the G8 (most of us, anyway).

I currently drive a Corvette – but I expect that ( based on a short test drive & all the comments here ) a G8 GT will be my next automotive purchase.

Once the ( um ) distribution ‘issues’ have been resolved.

Hey Ray, I lived in Duluth for a year...moved to Alpharetta last year. Lots of GTOs over there in the Duluth area!

Anyone have the 18" wheels and tires in the Atlanta area? I find the 19"s harsher that I would like and I'd like to see if the 18"s ride smoother...

Let me know

Thanks

Hey, are you the guy who had the G8 parked in the middle of the Impala SSs at the Year One show this weekend? I was one of the first guys over there to check it out when you pulled in. Have you gotten on it yet?

TomPierce

Yes that was me - no I haven't really tested it out yet - I've done a few "brisk" passes of other traffic, and one run past the century mark, but no drag strip or track time yet.

It is goin gt be fast, though, I can tell you that. I am going to get into so much trouble with this car...

It was good meeting you! I was going to ask if you were on the boards but forgot when I was there. I had my GTO there, it was the mostly-stock blue '05 if you saw it. Next time you take it to the strip you'll have to post up and I'll try to go at the same time.

Here is mine - waiting for the PDI guys to prep it. I should be able to pick it up on Monday or Tuesday. Enterprise had told me that it shipped from California on 4/22 so I really wasn't expecting it to arrive for another week or so - but driving by the dealership this morning I saw it sitting in the back lot. I confirmed with the fleet sales manager at the dealership that it is my car - can't wait to get it home!

I love the color!

Looks good. I would recommend against the dealer prep though. I detailed my car this weekend and noticed a few scratches around the car that could have only been caused by the dealer prep. If I hadn't clayed and polished the car I probably would never have noticed them. Other detailing threads also recommend against the dealer prep. It's not there line of business.

Any local guys ordering the Magnaflow exhaust? I have a 60 mile daily drive and want to make sure the system isn't to loud.

George:
Thanks for posting that question. I would really like to do a cat back and CAI but I'd like to see and hear one in-person first.

We need to get some of us ATL guys/gals together for a G8 cruise somewhere. I had mine at the Year One Experience a couple weeks ago and it drew a huge amount of attention, nearly more than my 71 Judge.

We could all meet at a central locaation (the Varsity downtown?)

We could cruise down to Summit Racing and gather in the parking lot.

We could cruise up to Year One and do the same.

Other suggestions?

Should I start a poll?

So that's who it was, a few GTO people took some pictures of your car :)

I may have seen you around, were you on Lawrenceville-Suwanee road yesterday around noon?

Hey Ashley, didn't know you were over here... I guess that makes sense since you want a G8 ;)

I'm down for a meeting anytime, just let me know. I'm sure we can get a few GTOs to show up pretty easily.

And why don't we have multiquote on this board!?

Yep, that was me. I live about a mile east of I-85 on Lawrenceville-Suwanee and my buisness office is about a mile west of I-85 on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

I would vote for the Year One Braselton Bash. That is a pretty good show and I think the G8's and the GTO's would get a lot of attention. They don't like to let folks hold spots for friends, so we would need to try to marshal at a meeting spot close by and then caravan up there so we could all park together, but I think it would be worth a try.

We could meet at my office on L'ville-Suwanee road....

Last time us GTOs went up there (first show of the year) we met at the Jeffrey's one or two exits south. Two of us GTOs (myself and xcalibersgirls' boy :gr_jest) made the top-25. No idea how I made it, but his GTO is pretty tricked out.

Oh, and since we're so close we'll probably be seeing a lot of each other. I work just up Horizon from L'ville-Suwanee, so I eat lunch around there or Discover Mills every day. Maybe we can line up sometime :turbonaughtdy_1:

Saw your car again today, you work in that business park on the south side of L'ville-Suwanee that's down below road level or were you just visiting? We're close, I almost pulled in to talk but I've got a lot of work to do today.

Oh, and Lucerne Blue is kind of a light/pale blue, isn't it?

Let's get everyone together on the June 13-15 weekend. Either Saturday or Sunday. By then, I will have the entire line of Custom Auto Accessories (CAA) Embroidery Pontiac G8 / G8 GT Products ready for purchase. Chris Smith is the first to have his G8 GT fully outfitted and should be able to have his car on display. We will have incentives, free giveaways, for the Atlanta Area crowd who purchases CAA products. Fortunate for Atlanta that the CAA sales office is in Atlanta. All products ship directly from manufacturing in California. All GM Licensed and ready to go.

www.CustomAutoAccessories.com

Let's get a list of names and email addresses, phone numbers started for this gathering.

I can't make it that weekend - taking a bunch of Boy Scouts on a Shotgun Shooting trip. I would like to see Chris' car all "Accessorized" so hopefully you can post some pictures, etc. afterwards.

I still think it would be fun to get a group together for the Braselton Bash at Year One that next weekend. Tom, can you head that effort up and take a poll of who all can attend and decide where to meet? I am definitely going and will be taking my IOM G8 GT and the 71 Judge.

BJ

I created a new thread in the Southeast Forum for this event - everyone should vote - VOTE even if you are NOT attending so we can gauge the response

Once we know how many people are attending we can settle on where to meet up before the event, the secret handshake, the proper intitiation rites, etc.

Bought my Magnetic Gray Metallic at Prebul in Dalton (no extra charges). Just a trunk latch issue and hoping for better gas mileage so far. My 98 C5 averaged 24 - 30 MPG at 85. Haven't gotten close to that in the G8 yet. I do find my G8 a very fun car to drive. Almost a 4-door Corvette. :D

Congrats! The G8 is a much heavier car than the Vette and punches a much bigger hole in the air. Your best mileage will probably be had around 65 or so, not 85.
