my brakes squeak when in reverse....as I apply more pressure, the squeak goes away, however, light pressure brings out quite a bit of noise/squeaking....anyone else experience this and is this just normal for new brakes? This does not happen when going forward after cold start ups...only in reverse. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same issue. It comes and goes.

My STi did this when I first got it... It went away fairly quickly. It used to also happen if the rotors got wet and would sit for awhile.

I don't think it's anything to worry about unless it doesn't go away soon!

What is the material used on the brake pads? Ceramic? Semi Metalic?

My brakes squeal abit after rain or sitting for day or two. One quick ride and it goes away. I can see the rust on the rotors after a rain storm, but it wears right off.

Same here...pull out of the garage in the morning and the brakes squeek down the driveway. Doesn't seem to do it at all going forward.

I think its cause their still new and need to break in....

but if it happens after a couple of months then somethings going on...

I think they are semi-metalic... not sure but if you get brake dust a lot then they most likely are semi-metalic....

honestly dont know but the dust would give you a good idea...

Yup, new brakes need to be seated properly. Go find an empty stretch of interstate and do a few 70-30 mph heavy braking manuevers and see if that helps.
