I drove my new GT 750 interstate miles today after picking it up yesterday afternoon. I noticed that it felt a little "tippy" or twitchy. It wanted to follow the road crown or truck tire grooves worn into the road. I felt like i was chasing it. It sort of felt like it needed to be aligned. The only time I've had a car follow the road crown like this, it was not aligned correctly. Has anybody had theirs checked? Was it off?

Mine drives very straight, you can take your hands off the wheel going in a straight line.

Mine will move depending upon where the car is in relation to the roads crown or wear grooves. Guess I'll talk to the dealer about checking the alignment.

my cobra did that terribly, but it was obviously only on the interstate at 60+ and with a well grooved highway. its just something you may have to get used to, of course mine was slammed, but it was aligned perfectly... hope you figure out what you need.

Mine felt like it was pulling to the left ever so slightly. The dealer checked the alignment and found it to be within spec. He though it might be a 'radial tire' pull. He did swap the front tires from side to side. Now it tracks just fine.

Weird...I was thinking the same thing. There's a stretch of road by my office where my car feels like it's driving itself. I never noticed it with my 01 GTP, so I just chalked it up to tires. It goes away once I pass this stretch and doesn't seem to do it on the highway. Maybe these things are just sensitive. Not sure what would cause that though.

My current car does this all the time when there are ruts on heavily traveled highways, and it is a 5 series, happens with many that have wide contact patches.

Do you guys have the summer tires, or the all seasons? When I put my 275/40/17 summer tires on the T/A it pulls all over the road. Happens even when the road seems perfectly flat. With the 245/45/16 all season tires on the car I don't have that problem at all. Tires can have a huge affect on how the car feels and handles.

that could be part of it for sure, the cobra had 295's in the rear and 275's up front, and before i had that on it, it was not as bad (or noticable)

I agree... wider tires tend to feel like that and some particular tires more than others... the shoulder profile, rubber compound and the construction itself all affect the feel.

Not sure if it would help but you might try a couple of lbs up or down on the pressure if you drive over ruts all the time... might be worth a try.

my buddies vettes always did that-summer tires would track in the grooves, but not his all seasons or other similar cars(TA,Mustang etc.)

One quarter to one half degree of toe-in will solve this issue.

generally a wider tire like will track pavement lines more than a thinner tire.

I've been driving it more and getting much more used to it. My previous ride was a GTP Comp G with GXP GP Bilsteins, Eibach springs (lower about 1.5"), STBs and 235/50-18s. Compared to the modified GP the G8 feels taller with more body roll. however it seems well controlled. I'm just not used to it. I had a chance to drive on some twisty back roads and it did great, even over bumps. When i add some Pedder's springs it will be even better!

I'm already investigating the possibilities and looking for dealers in my area. Thank a lot. The write-up was wonderful!!
