While I was taking my GTO out for the first time I passed a Liquid Red G8 on Barrington Road around 4:40 pm.

He spotted me across the intersection and then flashed his brights at me. Then once the light changed he launched a bit and waved as he passed. Loved it!

I love the fact that there are only about 15-20 in the Chicagoland area. I probably pass 15-20 BMW 3-series and 5-series on my way to work (Oak Brook) everyday. I've only seen 1 G8 on the road since I got mine back in March. How sweet it is.

I agree. I travel a lot and have yet to see another on the road anywhere, except for the initial Northbrook sighting right after I got mine on March 15th.

Where are you getting the tint? I live in AH so I'm sure I'll see you around. I have Northwestern U plates.

Saw a red one today parked at 71st and St. Lawrence

White....filling up at the gas station at 73rd and South Chicago/Ellis a few days ago.

Orange on Bishop Ford yesterday around 10ish. Somwhere between 130th and 142nd southbound.

I live near Glenview and in the last month I have seen a Black GT, a Red GT and Grey GT. And of course any time I drive by a large plate glass window I see my IOM GT and me grinning thinking about the next time i stomp on the throttle :)

Rode along side a beautiful Liquid Red with 19s this morning on Golf Rd. I was going to say something, but you looked like you were occupied.

Saw a white GT, premium package + sunroof, with dealer plates and Woody plate cover parked at Geneva Commons off Randall Road on Sunday morning. A space was open next to it, so I parked right beside it. They had left before I got back to the car to leave.

I saw a Liquid Red GT turning on 103rd and Talman to go around the closed railroad crossing...first one I've seen on the road.

Saw another black GT up by Evanston Northwestern Healthcare this afternoon, maybe around lunchtime. Wow...that makes 3 total and 2 in 3 days!

I saw a red one a few weeks ago in bellwood driving on mannheim road.

A black one that was debadged on i-355 getting on the army trail exit a couple of weeks ago.

I saw an orange one yesterday in batavia driving down fabyan parkway.

I also saw a white v6 one last saturday night parked on a street in the river north area. It was parked a couple of minutes away from the rock and roll mcdonalds.

Total of 4 since I bought my car at the end of april.

I just bought an 09 G8 GT this past Saturday. Pacific Slate Metallic. All I can say is that this car is awesome. It will definitely get you in trouble quick if you aren't careful. You'll see me anywhere from Arlington Heights to Gurnee.

Well, truth be told, slumming it in Glencoe (or anything in that area of the North Shore), would be driving an entry level Mercedes, BMW, or Lexus. So, something like a Pontiac or Chevy is a rare site. :D

My ex G/F lives in Glenview, oh the stares I'd get when we'd pull up to functions/parties/etc in my big Silverado 2500HD. :D A big honking 4x4 Pickemup truck amongst a sea of high dollar, foreign luxury iron is a site to behold.

Are you kidding! I am from NYC and the upper east side is home of the stuck up high risers.

I now live near U in Lake in the Hills. I have friends (been here 10 years now) all over chicagoLand. The people here are AW-SOME, down to earth and not judgmental. Of course there are exceptions but I have traveled throughout the States and much of the world. I remember a time wile in the US Navy a young lady spent much of the evening (early evening) describing her cool new ride. when I got to see it later, it was an Escort GT, I realized then that the people in this Spanish town were not stuck on nameplates. She liked her new car and it could not matter if it was a KIA. I find mid-westerners to be similar and in my neighborhood you see a different car in every driveway. My driveway has a few HOGS parked in it all summer. Growing up in NY... The garage was filled with the flavor of the week. One year it was the 12cyl Jags, the next was the new (at the time) M3. Those people were rude and stuck up! The mid west, including Elgin rocks! I lived on the east coast for a while (Connecticut). I spent alot of time in the NY and NJ area. The Chicago area is MUCH cleaner and the people here are MUCH friendlier. That's as nice as I can say it...

That is because I was in my POS winter vehicle. Just curious but why did you remove the GT emblem on your car but not the others? I didn't get the best look because before I noticed what car it was I was already past. Only reason I got a decent look is because I stopped for the light and was able to turn around to check the car out. How old are you? I couldn't see the driver very well but they didn't look too old. Could have been the perspective though.

I only removed the "PONTIAC" emblem from the rear. My GT and G8 emblems are still there on each side. Kept them because they are proportionate. So maybe it wasn't me after all. But I have not seen any other MGM's in the area. I had mine delivered and the local dealer has not had any. I am 38.

Hmmm. I didn't get the best look at the car so I could be mistaken on which emblems were removed. Who knows. It was yesterday between 3PM and 4PM or so. MGM G8 in the Eastbound lane of Grand Avenue just East of Dilley's road turning left headed north to where-ever the heck they were heading.

Turned from Shales Parkway onto west 20. I caught up to you just before 25, bottled up in traffic of course, after 31, you moved into the right hand lane with a little burst of acceleration, but not enough to pull away from the Bonne. :D

You then exited at McLean.

My G8 is a Summer only vehicle. To heck with all that salt and nastiness on the roads during the winter let alone drivers who forget what driving in snow and ice is like.

Ran into and chatted with a blue '08 owner today at Discount Tire in Elgin. He was getting his summer tires swapped out for all-seasons, while I was getting tires put on my new set of Holden 18" wheels for the GTO. Asked him if he had been on here, he said "no". Got to talking...

Anyway, he insists his '08 has an LS3. I corrected him and said, "you mean, L76?", but he insisted it was an LS3. So I let it go...

Okay I see here that many board members are from my area. I see posts from Schaumburg, Arllington Heights, Elgin and more (I am in Lake in the Hills). When I first ran out to get a G8 (about 1 year ago), I wanted to be one of the first because I have fun with having an unusual ride. Problem is: Our cars are too unusual! They must be selling slow (even by GM's low standards). Every lot that I pass is loaded with them.. We got ours so I don't care too much but I am wondering just why the G8 is not appealing... I realize it's a V8 but I passed about 40 Mustangs with Summer tires on my ride home in the snow tonight..

What is it with all of us G8 owners seeing all these other G8's but never really running into fellow board members. Gearhead and I kind of ran into each other but that is about it from what I see.
You guys might see me sometime. I just bought a red GT and I live in Zion and work in Mundelein. I'm around the Gurnee Mills area quite often, there are a lot more stores there than in Zion. We do have a new Super Walmart now though, so I don't have to go all the way down to the one in Gurnee.

A couple reasons;

1) How long has the current mustang been on sale vs. the G8.
2) How many of those mustangs are V6's?
3) Our G8's aren't well known, except amongst a minority of people who want a vehicle specifcally like this.
4) I don't know what you mean about dealers being "loaded" with them. Most dealers here, have 3 - 5 on average sitting on the ground and 30 or 40 G6's and Torrent's on the ground.
5) Current market woes. G8's aren't moving, but neither are those mustangs! See pont 1.

I go to the Gurnee McDonalds show almost every Friday, and sometimes get to the Park on Park in Mundelein. Mostly just cruising and track time.

Tuesday night (9 – 10PM’ish), going west on 20 through Elgin in the snow, I passed a V6 a MGM G8. Both of us exited at Randall Rd. You had to wait at the light to turn left though. I went right (south).

Two on Saturday afternoon, within 15 minutes of one another, both on Randall Rd. in Elgin.

1) a Liquid Red pulling out of the Chase parking lot onto the frontage Rd. (the other side of Weld Rd.?) pulling up to Randall.

2) Going up (north) on Randall from about 20, I had a Panther Black in front of me. I then passed you in the ever so stylish family mini-van. You remained behind me until you turned right (east) on Big Timber.

Couldn't tell if it was Panther Black or Magnetic Grey or if it was a base or GT. On my way to the Pontiac dealer, 4:30'ish, in the Sweet Tomato's parking lot on North Ave. in St. Charles.

Petsmart actually, and why I remember this is a mystery, but I picked up dog food then went to my buddy's house off of Hopps in South Elgin to chill for my bday. Don't really remember a Sienna though. If it was a G8 I would have been lookin for sure.

#1 was probably me!! :) I was all over out that way today. Passed PR quite a few times. In S. Elgin twice, then back to St Charles to get the baby washed.

Just traded my '04 GTO on a new silver GT. Didn't realize there were so few around. Silver color makes it blend in more but look for me on 83 between Buffalo Grove and Mundelein every morning at 7 and evening at 6...and if you ever need body work check out CARSTAR Mundelein.

Big difference between a G6 and a G8. Pontiac isn't selling 6 million G8's a year like they do G6's!

There was an orange GT with 19's driving next to me thursday morning on Rt 137 in Libertyville. We both turned left on Butterfield road and we were playing around a little but there too much traffic to race. I know they wanted to race because they goosed it a few time to let me know they had an intake. But little did they know I have a ECM/TCM tune, so I probably would have taken them.

No, I've got a body shop I've used for years now. The owner and I are friends. I think this was their overfill lot that they had behind the credit union.

The car was taken there by weGo Police after the accident. My Grandmother was driving it, less than a block from home, got hit corner to corner with a drunk mexican woman, who had just swiped a few cars in the lot up at Turner School a few minutes prior. If it were me, I'd have had it left in my driveway, while I took all the stuff I wanted from it. But since I didn't find out about it until 6pm that night, I had no say. I had to go over there and strip out the parts I wanted...

Pics of it in their lot (That white caravan is what hit her). There was no structural damage to the Monte, but considering both airbags went off, the passenger side busting the windshield, and severe front end damage, it wasn't worth fixing on a '96 with 175K on the odometer.

He and his son do this they used to be called the plastic surgeons and now they are Moto-FX. It's been awhile but I think it was around $800 (cash) I had the front end wrapped up to about 6" past the hood vents, mirrors, side skirts, door handle pockets, tailgate below the trunk opening and a piece right below the gas filler door. He was really good, not cheap. I have a phone number but I am not sure if that is a No-No for the website.

I actually bought the car certified from Haggerty in VP, and someone ran the front bumper over a parking block. They agreed to repaint the front bumper and fix any other spots on the car come spring, since I bought the thing before the snow and all. There are a couple of other chips (hood and back bumper), but nothing major.
I'm just getting antsy I suppose. Honestly, I've wanted to mod a car for so long, and I finally have my first "real" car (lol) so I'm being impatient I guess. :) As long as it's finally on when the weather gets nicer and I can ride with the windows all down, I'll be ok!

Valentines day was great. I pretty much blew the immediate budget for any more mods on a hotel downtown at the car show and a really good meal at Hugo's Frog Bar! The kids stayed with Granny, it was really relaxing. It is nice when you can forget you've been married for 18 years and have 3-kids and just enjoy each other's company, even if it is for 24 hours at a shot.

My Main store is Wheaton... but i go to CS a lot to an extra 20-30 hours of overtime per check.

The one I see is always parked at the Wheaton Auto Zone. Would be crazy if there were two LR's that work one town from eachother at Auto Zones... lol

Not sure. I've talked to a few guys over there about the car. My buddy Mitch Hull used to work there, and a few of the guys recognize me from coming in to chat with him.
But... If it was an older chick it wasn't me. I'm 24. lol You made it sound like an older woman...
