Not currently in KC, but lived there for a long time. I can tell you a bunch of TBSS guys out there, but not sure on G8's yet. And what type of shop are you looking for? I would check on MC Racing and House of Boost. Both of them do great work...and are great guys. They also have quite a bit of experience with our cars, so they won't disappoint.

I make it back to KC a few times a year, so maybe we'll cross paths at some point...

GPZCatz- Where did you go to HS. I'm assuming it was in Olathe. Not asking for when you graduated, but how many high school choices did you have.

Heck we might have been best buddies!!!???

Did K-12 here, ran off and dragged colleg credits all across Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. Finally came right back her to finish and get a grad degree.

Also ended up with the best wife EVER.

Would be funny if we knew/hated each other, but but would also be intersting if we were friendly

Good to see some other KC folks on here. I don't see many G8s around town. Thus far, in addition to mine, I've only seen two other GXPs -- a WH and MSM. Don't see many GTs, either.

Don't know if you all have seen it, but there is talk of a meeting in Columbia, Mo. on the Missouri Role Call thread.

Plaza/UMKC area in MO side here. White G8 GT

Ive seen several GT's since I bought mine in June from the now closed Conklin/Fangman (formerly Major Cadillac and way back formerly Greenlease, 100 years ago, lol).

What dealer shops are you guys using? I am under the impression that Andy Klein is going away, but not sure. I contacted Broome Cadillac and talked to the service manager. They can do Pontiac warranty work (and should be familiar with the LS engines). I know that a couple of the techs from C/F went to work there.

Yeah, I used them once when I lived in Lee's Summit and wasn't impressed.

I used to buy GM cars at Butler, MO when Kahn owned the GM store, but have no desire to deal with the clown that bought them out.

I'm in NKC outside liberty. Got me an 09 GT in Stryker Blue. Only seen 1 or 2 in the area.
As for dealers, I use Randy Reed. Been very good to me since I had my 05 GTO.

Derek98z: If you speak of Royal Chevy, you know they are closing right? Once their inventory is gone, so are they. I used to deal with their body shop as I work in insurance. I still see the manager every once in a while. It's a shame. Good people at the sales department.

No I had no idea :(
Kinda makes sense though as last time I drove by the inventory was LOW. Too bad because it really was the best service department I have been to.

I didnt know that either. That makes them and Adams in Belton to be closing. GM never has made it public, so has been a guessing game. My comment about Andy Klein was based on the number of vehicles (new) they have in stock, besides the issue of Pontiac going away. I suppose Roberts on Holmes is toast as well, unless they survive on GMC alone, which seems unlikely. That location has been jinxed, I think...

Andy Klein voluntarily choose to cut ties with GM, after decades upon decades of being one of the top Pontiac dealerships in the Midwest. The numbers just didn't justify it for them: the number of GMC and Buick vehicles sold were peanuts compared to Pontiac, and they didn't think they would survive. That, plus the owners are pissed about what has happened with GM and the government. So Andy Klein is becoming a Mazda dealership. Bud Brown on Metcalf Ave., which was treated quite unfairly by Chrysler and is now just a large used-car lot, tried to get the Mazda dealership but was too close (9.6 miles) to the one in Olathe (Mazda franchise agreement doesn't allow dealerships under 10 miles away from each other). Andy Klein lucked out. 9/15 was supposed to be the last day that Andy Klein was able to do GM warranty work, but they will still honor any extended warranty purchased from them.

Roberts on Holmes is not closing. Roberts will be gaining the Buick dealership from Superior on 103rd St. When GM bunched up the Pontiac, GMC and Buick divisions several years ago, they tried to combine Roberts and Superior, but Superior wouldn't sell Buick to them. But now, the new GM is going to require that all Cadillac dealerships in large metropolitan areas to be stand-alone dealerships. (Small towns and rural areas are different story.) Cadillac is supposed to be boutique. So Superior will lose Buick to Roberts and has no choice about it. I agree that Roberts is at an odd location, but if they continue to play up GMC with business and industries, they should do OK.

I planned on taking my car to Andy Klein, but now will take it to Roberts. Plus, it's extremely close to where I live.

In early August, I was walking to Chipotle in P&L (Power & Light District), and walked by a White Hot G8 (can't remember if GT) waiting at a stoplight going south. In addition to the fact that it was only one of a few G8 sightings by that point, positioned behind the tinted window seemed to be an attractive female driver. Hmmm.

Yesterday, 9/17, I was enjoying the great weather having lunch at the open-air Willie's around the corner and saw a PBC G8 (not sure if GT) drive up Grand and turn onto Truman Road.

Interesting- thanks for the information! I'm glad Roberts isn't closing; its also closer for me. My comment about the location being "jinxed" actually goes back a ways. That was originally opened by Jim Delfosse in the mid 70's. I knew his son and son's cousin. There were four different operators in that space over 8-9 years before it closed and was shuttered for years, until Roberts opened there.

There may be quite a bit of shuffling before all is said and done. I still miss driving by a Pontiac store and seeing new T/A's etc., proudly parked out front, ready for liftoff....

Hey gang!!! I'm a proud new owner of a 2009 LR G8GT. My last pontiac was an 02' Grand Prix GTP highly modified so I am not new to the joys of modifying cars. Just picked up the G8 last Friday at Roberts Albright. My best friend is a salesman there and actually his uncle is Keith Roberts who is owner of the Roberts Auto Group chain so I got a pretty good deal on it. I own and run an independent insurance agency in Overland Park though I live in Olathe, KS. This will be my DD for quite some time but of course I will do the simple add-ons like CAI, Tune, cat-back exhaust, tinted windows, and maybe some appearance mods. I belong to a really great club called The Kansas City Pontiac Motorsports Club (kcpmc.proboards.com) We do a lot of meetings, mod days, car shows, etc.

Anyway, I am excited to try and meet some of you guys here eventually. Are there any local forums out there???

Talk to ya guys soon!!!

Small rant but I call a local alignment shop today and ask about getting lowering springs installed and an alignment, you know "do you do it, what would it cost, etc". The guy on the phone is kind of condescending, he says "we don't do that kind crap, it's bad for cars and you can't get them to align afterwards".

You know what, in this economy, why would you not at least entertain it? It's not like I asked for a warranty on the work. Anyways, it's his right to to refuse doing it and I respect that but I was somewhat put off by his attitude towards the whole notion. Any recommendations on somewhere in/around KC to get this done and/or idea what a fair price might be. I just don't know if I want to tackle this myself.

Installing Lowering springs is pretty easy you should be able to do this on your own. Ive done it on several cars and all are basically the same. Haven't tackled the G8 yet but I don't count on it being any harder.

You should be able to do it in a couple hours.
