So at the gtg yesterday there was a guy with the blue lemans. He is ordering the trophies for the 9th annual all pontiac show Sunday, August 16th, in Lynnwood. He said that if we can get at least 5 G8's to commit to coming he will make a G8 class for us and order us a trophy. :thumbsup: I think I need to let him know by next sunday, but am confirming.

So if you can commit to coming please post here and after we get 5 I'll email him.

Heads up on what happened to me Sunday.

I went down to Meeker Days in Puyallup with my little girl. They were having an all Pontiac car show there as part of Meeker Days (and a lot more activity). We parked, walked to get some lunch and walking back to where the Pontiac car show was found about 20 people around the G8. The car was NOT entered in the show.

I seriously wouldn't care about how good/bad your car is unless you're really passionate about it. Pontiac owners are crazy fascinated by these cars because of the press, and because of the idea that Pontiac saved the best for last.

You have no idea. My G8 was absolutely mobbed at the POCI All Pontiac show in Puyallup last weekend, and I hadn't even entered my car into the show! It was INSANE how many people were around it.

I'm hoping after we got 12 in one place that we're going to be the first major Pontiac show with an exclusive G8 class.

Hi guys, I'm a noob here but I'd love to do this for fun and I live real close to Lynnwood.

I picked up my new GT this weekend (black, premium and sport packages - is there any other config?). I had to sell my VT Commodore SS in 2001 when I moved here from Sydney and this car is my way of reliving my Holden love affair.

My car is bone stock, but there is not a fingerprint on it, let alone rock chips :) although I will have a 15% tint all around on Wednesday.

Please let me know how to enter.

I have a spare bedroom with a real bed, TV, etc. etc. in Edmonds. I don't have a garage however. If anyone wants to stay up here on Saturday night before the car show let me know. I have almost every wax, cleaning agent, polishing agent, treatment known to man, shop vac, and orbital buffer.

Heck could even host a BYOF/B BBQ at my house post show if there is interest.

Its RHD and has no coilovers. its a ute. haha but i got some of you i was going to wait till the show but i dont know. Lol Sorry guys but i didnt get this setup. If i did i would keep my car. But it costs $13K plus alot more low end work and drivetrain cause it pushes over 900hp. Brandon you still have the fastest g8 in washington i think. HEHE.

Weather forecast is going to be PERFECT not just for the car show but the detailing work this weekend leading up to the show.

Let see, I don't have my CAI, I don't have my Holden center caps or badges, my rear bumper is damaged (lightly) I have a chip in the front passenger door a blind man could pick out at 30 feet, and my driver side front rim is chipped on one of the spokes. I'm still going, ehhh, why not, people get all tingly excited when they see our G8s. I'm not there to win, I'm there to enjoy.

I really need to wax my car. Its been a long time. Yes i ordered a 2SS/RS camaro w/6m and sunroof. Im still trying to figure a way to keep both cars.

GMP - saw your car, first blue I have seen. The blue looks very nice. If Pontiac would have had the blue inserts it would have been kick a$$. It was good to see the New Era CAI, still trying to make my mind up on which one I want. I dont believe we got to talk, I think we were listening to some of the same conversations but did really speak directly and do introductions.

I don't mind having my pic taken but most of the ones with me are of my shoes. My four year old is amazing with a camera, (seriously) but she has a shoe obsession. Kinda like Mommy. I've actually thought of putting together her best shoe pics and making some sort of art collection. The weird part is, she HATES feet. She always wants to wear footie jammies at home so she doesn't have to see her feet. *sigh* That probably means something significant but I have no idea what.

LMAO!! When we told my oldest daughter that I had a baby in my tummy, she started crying because she was scared of me!!! xD I wanted to explain and comfort her but we were laughing too hard! Poor kid. She got me back when 6 weeks after her sister was born she asked when the other one was coming out.

They thought they didn't have a chance because their cars were primarily stock. Interesting how two of the lesser modified rigs got 2nd and 3rd. 2nd place going to the most stock car entered!

I got a plaque. It says Second Place - G8 All

All entrants got a "goodie bag," with some SWAG in it, nothing awesome but I sure did appreciate the bottle of water we got. I think we're in well with the organizers of the event.

I would suggest next year two G8 classes, one for modified and one for stock - I think we could fill both up. I don't care to even get into the politics of how you define stock versus modified - the people that didn't enter should have, our cars overall were very clean, certainly cleaner than many other entrants, old or not. I think it would even out the curve from those who are stock or darn close (and plan to basically stay that way) and those adding a lot more to their cars.

I suspect I just threw a big hand grenade into this thread. Glad I went.

Attendance was much lighter and number of cars entered was far less than what I expected. The one big surprise was the Fieros. Can't believe how many were there and how active their club is.

I would've entered mine (stock except exhaust and wheels) but I knew my kids couldn't handle the whole day out there in the sun. Maybe next year I'll ship them off to Grandma's for the day.

My daughter waived off going to this show, I told her she would be stuck there all day and it lost its appeal. I know I was ready to go home by 2:30 PM - it got hot out there.

Great showing by PNW G8 Owners Club members! Were there any non-member cars there as far as anyone could tell?

All of the cars looked great! Everyone did a great job on getting them ready for the show. Nice seeing all of the different mods really helps me see what I want to do. And talking with everyone was great as well. I must say I was quite jealous of them all. Congrats to all of the awardees.

I was one of the posers in the parking lot. I could say I should've, could've, and will next year but its just excuses. Looking forward to the next event.

had fun at this one! glad to see the HUGE G8 turnout. If we had all of the G8's that showed up entered in the contest, we would have come close to the club participation trophy that the fiero club won!

I'll be honest tho...thats the LAST show i enter if Tony is going to be in the G8 class...it really wasnt fair. In my opinion, tony should have been in the "special interest" class...

But I still don't understand how a car that is built by Holden as a G8 Pontiac, that is modified to look like a Holden Commodore, wins first place at an ALL PONTIAC show as the best PONTIAC G8????? Sorry, but I agree with Brandon, should be in its own class, not with the Pontiacs. For car shows, its either a Pontiac G8, or a Holden Commodore, it can't be both!

Hee hee - my car was CRAZY clean - I will say that. The best thing from the show, a huge forcing function for me to try and fix my rear bumper. Had it not been for the show, I would have farmed out the work (especially after the yellow jacket sting paint glob disaster). But I had to bring my a-game to cover up the scratch and damn, did I bring it!!!

So ehhhh - it was worth it.

Hey Tony, don't get us wrong! I don't think it is your fault that they put you in with real Pontiacs! But you gotta admit, someone would be hard pressed to figure out that your car is a Pontiac! It should be in some modded category where it will get the proper attention/recognition. And all the Pontiacs that are still recognizable as Pontiacs, should be judged as such. The people assigning the categories screwed up, that's all.:wink2::pir_flag:

I'll wade into this. I think TONY'S car should be in the Special Interest Class (I believe it was Class Z). Utlimately he has been converting his G8 to look like a Holden Commodore with the steering wheel on the wrong side. I have ZERO issues with that - I think his car looks awesome and I like the Holden front clip better than the Pontiac one. I've even priced out doing it (ehhhh, think I would do a tune and port and some other performance mods instead). If I caved in my front end and buckled the hood I have to confess I would be privately happy, and would probably pay the difference (if there was) for the sheet metal to do the conversion.

But with all that said, I do feel his car should have been in the "Special Interest" class. He would have mopped the floor with the offerings there (all of four cars) and a bone stock Solstice GXP with an AUTOMATIC for cripes sake took first place (must not think unnatural thoughts about their daughter, must not think unnatural thoughts about their daughter). I also felt the absolute worst car in the whole show was in Special Interest - that horrific 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix (yes it was a 2008) that's paint was so swirled it makes Dave's car (no offense Dave) look like it just came out of a full Concour's ready restore. Never mind the other modifications that gave it an, errrr, "ethinic" flavor that I personally found quite unappealing.

Back in the day when I was showing my very heavily modified Ford Probe I was that guy. There was a guy with a Firebird I remember, he was that "guy" too and then a smattering of others. If my Probe was there, I was taking first place in class. If the Firebird was there, he was taking first place in class. If we were both there we would trade first/second place depending on the show. Yup, people with Special Interest cars got discouraged over a 18 to 24 month period. I don't know what to say - I entered in my fair class (I would haven't entered in a say Ford 1980 and newer class as I was too modified to fairly compete in what I would view as a "stock" class).

ON THE OTHER HAND - a V8 Fiero took its class with custom body work - that probably should have been in special interest also. The Pontiac hearst took its class, which was a broad class, and given everything about that car, maybe not the fairest placement. For those issues I blame show organizers.

There is no easy answer. I remain stunned I won anything, I approached that show as a fun day answering G8 questions with friends - at the end of it I just hope we can rise about the brewing politics and just enjoy our cars.

I noted other examples that I viewed as rather unfair. There were other issues in my opinion, like a complete lack of a Grand Prix class (weird - the area club is rather active and had about 10 cars at the Puyallup show) and again, cars like the V8 Fiero with custom body work in the SE Fiero class - totally unfair to put that car in with a bunch of 2.5L 4 cylinder Fieros. BUT BUT BUT - had his car been a bone stock SE in the same condition, I would have still given my vote to that car.

I got no issues with Tony, or his car, just feel he's crossed the line from G8 to Special Interest in car shows.

I also agree with the other post that if the folks in the parking lot had entered anyway - we would have been competitive for the club trophy.

im agreeing with everyone on this one. tony your car should be in a special interest group. you should not be able to enter into a pontiac class and also a international one too because you made it into a holden resto mod. you cant really have both!

I think you guys are right, I should have entered my car as well as the others. There was a big showing of G8's and we could have taken it. There was a bunch of great cars, great mods, and great conversation.

... Instead I put it in the "21 and Under" category that's meant for kids. LOL
