if you compare and contrast the hvac and radio controls between the holden commodore and pontiac g8 you will notice that pontiac took the time to switch the location of the volume knob and some other radio functions to a more appropriate location for a left hand driver (something they didn't do w/ the gto) but they did not switch the locations of the buttons on the hvac controls.
shouldn't the "zone" button be on the passenger side and "auto" on the driver side - as this is how it is when driving on the right side. why didn't they just mirror image all of the hvac buttons so it feels more oriented to the driver?

Well you only have to hit the auto button once. Why, for that matter, did they switch the radio controls, leaving them in teh hands of eth passenger would actually make sense - wife want's me to change radio stations or volume in our GP while I've got both hands on the wheel and both eyes on the road. :coffee::gears:

so i drove the g8 last night - pretty impressive i must say! however the fact that this car was originally a right hand driver - is just plain obvious. the volume controls on the steering wheel are on the right side of the wheel which makes sense if you are on the right side of the car as the hand on the wheel will usually be your right hand - but that isn't the case when driving on the left hand side - i am usually holding on during casual driving w/ my left hand...and would much rather have volume control then multifunction display with the hand that is always on the wheel...
the climate controls - although obviously designed for right hand driver as well - do work well!

Have you checked out other GM vehicles? The volume control is on the right hand side of the steering wheel too and they didn't start out as 'right hand drive' vehicles...

I noticed this on my GM truck today and was thinking the exact same thing.
I wish they had switched the off button for the a/c to the other side. It's always blocked and I forget it's there. LOL

Well, well. Life is hard, and then you die.
Did you know you can scroll thru the cuts on a CD with the left side roller switch?
