: MACE Manifold Insulators
tosspint 06-23-2009, 01:44 PM Just a little heads up for the V6 guys that want to mod the LY7...
I recently came across these manifold insulators for the LY7 that state to increase torque by 10% while retaining top end power. The V6 guys in Australia seem to have rave reviews about them. They work by increasing the intake runner lenght, which as a rule, increases low-end torque. They also act to insulate the intake manifold from heat to help with IAT's. I just received my set this week so I'll let you know how they do once I get some quality wrench time in. For $135 USD I figured what the heck! :driving:

Nice...do you have a CAI? and will they be compatible..ROTO FAB..look forward to your install info.
Thanks
tosspint 06-23-2009, 06:07 PM Harley, Yes I do have a Roto-Fab intake. The same thought crossed my mind...Since it's going to raise the intake manifold about 3/4-1" I'm hoping the intake will still be able to be fitted correctly. I'm thinking I'll just be able to angle the intake tube to make up for the increase in height. I'll keep you posted. Hoping to get to it this week!
BN3RNG8 06-23-2009, 08:05 PM Let me know how it goes. Just got a bonus check for completing my insurance classes @ work, so bring on the mods!!!
Derekprz 06-23-2009, 08:50 PM I'm curious of the results. Where did you buy them?

Hey tosspint did you happen to install the manifold insulators yet?
tosspint 07-20-2009, 07:44 AM Hey Watson, I haven't thad a chance to install the insulators yet. :( It's killing me seeing them collecting dust. What's holding it up is that I want to paint the intake manifold at the same time I install them.
raguiarG8v6 07-22-2009, 07:16 AM hey "tosspint" how much did you pay for the insulators if you dont mind me asking and how did you order them from the site.
tosspint 07-22-2009, 10:16 AM raguiarG8v6 - I ordered them from the site by sending an email to MACE. The best method for us in the States they said is via PayPal. I paid $135 USD shipped to my door and got them in a week or so.
sameero 07-22-2009, 01:10 PM The intake air is not that hot. I dont think you will get a 10% increase in torque. You may get better torque increase just by putting premium fuel.

Make sure you have atleast 25 mm clearence to the hood. The engine rocks sideways and needs that clearance. Longer runner length has not helped improve the torque with regular fuel. It is not VE limited.
Adaratilth 08-13-2009, 08:49 PM Hey sorry to bring up an old thread but did you ever get a chance to install the insulators?
tosspint 08-19-2009, 10:36 AM Hey Adaratilth, I still have the manifold spacers sitting in my office. :judge: I'm not sure if I'm going to install them as I think I'm not going to go soo mod heavy on the V6. If anyone is interested, I'll post them up for sale. $100 shipped, brand new still in the box.
