: G8 GT Stock VCM file
TomPierce 04-04-2008, 01:56 PM I'm evaulating which tuning product i should but - EFILive has a demo downloadable version with sample VCM files from years past :)
Has anyone read a stock G8 GT VCM and care to share the stock file? I'd like to see what EFI Live can do before I invest a fistfull of dollars in a piece of software...
Any preferences for EFILive over HPTuners? (and no, I don't want to start a flame war - just let me know which you prefer )
Thanks,
Tom
HANNlBAL KING 04-04-2008, 02:08 PM I have used HPTuners to tune all of my previous LS1 based vehicles and plan on using it for my G8. I haven't had any time to hook it up to my G8 yet though.
wortec1 04-04-2008, 02:23 PM My vote for HPTuners also................they are due some upgrades soon as well:gears:
TomPierce 04-05-2008, 04:23 PM Hannibal if you do download the stock file could you save me a copy? My suspicion is that HPTuner and EFI Live both work off the same format file and just call them different names.
Thanks

Well, I have EFILive and will be using it on my G8. I would love to show you the stock file but at the moment I am having trouble remembering how to use the stupid thing. I got it for my diesel and haven't used it in nearly a year. Every time I try and log the stock tune it gets all the way through and at the end I get an error message. I have posted this on EFI's forum but have yet to get help with it.
EFILive is an extremely good tuning tool and for those annoyed with the shifts it can fix them. I just need to find someone to help with getting the stock tune off of my car. lol
If you know anyone that understands it better than I (which shouldn't be that hard since I don't know a ton about it) let me know and I'll be glad to post the stock maps up.
TomPierce 04-05-2008, 06:03 PM Here is the hpt stock file. If you have hptuners , you need 2.2.1 beta to read it.

Thanks for the file ! - I'll try to read it with what I have and let you know if I succeed

Sluggz,
Hate to be a pest but do you have a .BIN version of that file? My theory didn't work :banghead:
Thanks
Sluggz 04-06-2008, 06:54 PM It wont save as anything other than hpt. It's probably a different format.
mwahlert 04-08-2008, 03:22 PM my understanding is that efi live has better options relating to the trans computer vs. hpt. and supposedly whatever solution vector motor sports is using is even better then that..
dodson914 04-08-2008, 03:25 PM I thought VMS was using HPTuners.
VectorMotorsports 04-08-2008, 03:52 PM No.
dodson914 04-08-2008, 04:09 PM No.
Well, I guess that answers that. LMAO
NVR2FST 04-08-2008, 10:09 PM I think they'll be some pretty good gains by tuning the trans, and to the best of my knowledge VMS is the only one that has full control right now.

Pretty sure that with EFILive you can adjust the trans as well. But, you are pretty much on your own as far as tuning.
Ausstar 04-08-2008, 11:49 PM VMS are doing it all on a Dyno and working directly with the ECM and TCM... that, from what I understand, goes a lot deeper than these programs can go...
anybody help with that... I dont know the specifics but thats what I understand so far!?

do you guys plan on expanding the capabilities of transmission support for the 6l80e? supposedly vector has more advanced features..
mwahlert 04-10-2008, 07:14 AM Try this one, the first file I uploaded got corrupted somehow. Seems to happen easily with hpt files.
try which one?? thanks!

Yes, once our engineer gets back from interviewing for the two new engineer positions we are hiring for we plan on adding a bunch of new tables/parameters to the tcm portion of things, we currently offer about 120 TCM parameters & will probably double that shortly.
