: How about an OZ Delivery Program

Do you think that Pontiac should set up an overseas delivery program like the European car makers. Maybe some sharp travel agent will work out something with Pontiac / Holden. I always liked kangaroos and those cute koala bears.

There's just one small problem. I understand the Aussies drive on the wrong side of the road!

I love the idea, the more yanks we can get down here spending your dollars the better.

There are some problems though.

You can drive LHD cars in Australia, but only under special circumstances like vintage & veteran cars, evaluation vehicles etc.

How the car would be priced would be an issue. Generally picking up a BMW in Germany saves you money, but as there are no channels set up there may be no real saving for Pontiac so you may end up paying full price plus have to pay for freight.

The biggest hurdle would be that there are no Pontiac dealers in Australia, so who would you pick the car up from ? Holden dealers would not know what to do with them.

How about going to the plant at Elizabeth, picking up your car, fanging around Australia for a few weeks, then delivering it back to Holden to ship back for you ?

You might be able to have the car modifed in Australia for increased horsepower, suspension, etc. by the the Holden experts rather than have these items shipped to the U.S.

Then you would have to wait almost a month and a half before you got your car, possibly longer if you live on the east coast.

I think it is still possible to register a LHD vehicle (new) in the Northern Territory. That arrangement was put in place because of the numbers of US Military personnel in the various facilities in the Alice Springs area.
