You updated the cable for the new car? If not, your screwed. Mine won't be ready until the 11th, until then I stole a stock tune from a G8 GT on the internet and MAN. the timing is pulled from 0-2000 and 4000+ It is horrible.

However, when looking at the hi and lo octane tables I can see where poor grade 91 octane (non name brand without conditioners) atually works to build more power in these cars. So i switched to 93 and WOT timing has been increased (though not high enough) so I know it is making more power while monitoring in AutoTAP. My butt-o-meter also feels more power.

Weird! I didn't know what HPtuners was until I emailed Rev Hard in Rock Island IL yesterday. They said they use your stuff! Sweet!

Do you fore see an issue with the 2009's being different? Rev Hard didn't.

I am glad someone is here.

I just would like to take this opportunity to thanks for making the upgrade from 1.7 to 2.0 the most complicated and confusing system ever. My local dealer has either been giving us the runaround or it is REALLY complex like they explained to me. I am still not upgraded and keep getting excuse after excuse for what, maybe 7-8 months. I have a dyno tune on the 11th and we will HASH this out. For some reason he has no problem geting his stuff upgraded, but can't figure out our upgrade. Right now all I can tune are 2002, 2004 and 2005 V-8s and we don't own any of those anymore. So I got product sitting in a box.

Dunno, 1.7 to 2.x is a software upgrade that can be retrieved from your customer login page. If you are referring to upgrading your hardware from the older serial style interface to the newer MPVI USB style interfaces everything is explained right on your customer login page, basically you pay for the upgrade, send in your unit, we send you out your new upgraded unit, turn around is usually 7-10 days. Pretty simple procedure that we've been doing for 24months now without issue. If you have an older serial interface & want to now tune G8's you would need to upgrade your hardware as the older hardware didn't have the capability to communicate on the CAN Bus.

The process is pretty straight foward & outlined entirely on the customer login page.

As for tuning, They'll need the latest beta to be able to tune a G8 but as long as they have that they'll be fine.

Thanks for the response. Maybe I was out of line by whining in the forums.

When we purchased HP Tuners 1.x Futral Motorsport said we had to purchase tuning for each vehicle we planned to use. So that was a 2002 Camaro SS and a 2004 2500HD. We were told the cable would be locked to those years (but any GM V-8 for those years). We then also paid a subscription fee for upgrades I don't think we ever used.

Then 2.0 came out and they said last year when I wanted it, the upgrade was complex and they didn't understand it. A few months went by and then I was told they would get back to me, a few months go by and I am told about some confirmation that must be done. Of course this is all third party info, from the dude that split to cost with me.

So a few days after buying my G8 GT I go to Futrals myself and ask about buying an unlocked dyno tune and upgrading HP Tuners. The dude at the counter said I had to talk to the owner about the upgrade and a good day for that will be April 11th when I get the dyno tune, that will only happen if its unlocked.

I dunno what has to happen, all I need now is to tune a 2002 Camaro SS with HPT 2.0 and now a 2008 G8 GT. Can I ignore Futral altogether and give you my money????

Sure, just contact Jay at hptuners.com or sales at hptuners.com and he can walk you through step by step on how to upgrade your hardware.

When upgrading hardware its just a matter of logging into your customer account, clicking the order upgrades link & following the instructions...its really a very simple process with a very short turn around time.
