: LY7 cat back exhaust
Ryan32 07-05-2009, 10:11 AM I found out that magnaflow made one for the v6 but I called them and they told me that it won't be out for a little while longer. Does anybody know of where I could find a good cat back system that fits the v6...thank you
Oflats2185 07-06-2009, 03:39 AM wait it out bro or check out some of the Ly7 Posts about the Magna flow demo. I read it was a bit too much. Why not try the washer Mod first, I did its ok for now I was thinking flowmasters but dont know if it will sound good.
Chief 07-06-2009, 08:52 AM Glad to hear they are still working on it. I'm the one who had the demo system.
Great system and loved the sound. But the drone when crusing at 55 MPH was way too much for me and the family. I sold it to a member on here on the east coast. He says he loves it too. There's a thread here in the V6 forum about the system.
CHale24 07-06-2009, 10:57 AM I tried some flowmasters at a local shop and took it back to stock before even leaving. They were too high pitched/"whistly" and didn't give me the deeper sound I was looking for. Also had a lot of pop to it.
Ryan32 07-06-2009, 03:15 PM I actually just took the washers off today...I had them on for about 3 weeks and began to really hate it. It sounds so ricey, drony, and kinda like a long fart. Plus it makes the car slower for those who didn't know which is a fact.
henry23_g8 07-06-2009, 04:44 PM I had the washer mod for about 3 months sound is not bad i enjoyed it but just got my roto-fab intake so im thinking about taking the washers out this week. Ryan i have to agree with u for some reason the car does seem slower. By any chance do u know the reason its slower??
Ryan32 07-06-2009, 05:02 PM Less back pressure..and congrats on the intake. Mine should be in tomorrow as well, i'm excited to see what I am going to get out of it
henry23_g8 07-06-2009, 05:10 PM Thanks ryan i appriciate it! I guees since i dont got nothin to do later ill take the washer out and see how the car runs!
henry23_g8 07-06-2009, 10:14 PM Just finished from taking the washer mod off. Took it for a spin and what a diffrence i felt it picks up like nothing and u can hear the intake sucking all the air...
Ryan32 07-07-2009, 10:27 AM That's good to hear brotha, yeah it's like the car just feels so much lighter and smoother...I am still waiting for my intake though
BN3RNG8 07-29-2009, 01:17 PM If you want, you can go ahead and just take it to a Midas or Menieke. If you are lucky, you will get a good employee that appreciates performance.
My local Midas guy is offering to X pipe my system, remove resonators, and install a good pair of Magnaflows that sound manly on the V6 CTS's.
In total, would come to around $450.
-$170 for mufflers
-$80 for Tru-X-Pipe
-$200 for Straight-piping
-Using tips given by a friend.
If necessary, you can also ask for the work to be bolt-on.
rcbs204 07-29-2009, 01:39 PM I hate to tell you guys this, but you are going to have to spend a little more cash if you want the V6 to sound mean. I have a Supercharged V6 Toyota Tacoma, and After i installed Headers and a Magnaflow Cat back system, you would never know that there was a V6 under the hood. When the truck starts, it's louder than my G8 with the Borla's. If you want the deep throaty sound out of a V6 you will have start with headers first. My 2 cents.
MissHeather 07-29-2009, 02:31 PM I too am waiting until Magnaflow sells this exhaust system. It's the only one I want!!
raguiarG8v6 07-29-2009, 04:01 PM i glad you brought that point up biceman headers do increase the sound.....i have a plan for my exhaust set up am thinking of going with pacemaker header's a true x pipe and this axel back from AU that i found on e-bay that has quad tips stainless steal....i think it would be a nice set up

Would love to hear how that sounded? When are possibly getting that done. I'm very impressed with my washer mod thus far. It's not a true washer mod, but a bolt placed between the flange and muffler on top and bottom, so 2 each side. There a little gap to let sound out and on the gas it's louder than a GT stock on the gas.
BN3RNG8 07-30-2009, 02:26 PM Yep, I have the washer mod as we speak. I have 3 washers, though.
And, as for my set up, I have the mufflers welded to the tips, just waiting for a time that I can get in... sucks, cuz it is my daily driver, and I have to sneak around parental eyes.
CHale24 07-30-2009, 02:30 PM Yeah right now I think my exhaust sounds pretty good but it still isn't the deep rumble/roar I'm looking for. Don't want to change the headers but I will if I have to in the long run. Sucks to do most of this stuff though and not have a tune available for us.
BN3RNG8 post a sound clip as soon as you can, sucks you gotta move around sneakily but I hope you get it done soon.
BN3RNG8 07-30-2009, 02:32 PM Moving to my own place in a week or so. Once I am out, hello Tint, Straight Piping, and a .75" drop!

Oflats2185 08-01-2009, 03:50 AM straight pipes I been wondering about this I need to hear them!!! and by far sickest looking G8 BN3RNG8.
CHale24 08-02-2009, 10:50 PM I've heard straight piping at the G8 last weekend and it sounded great...too bad it was on a GT.
I have the washer mod, but instead of using washers, I used nuts to bolt between the flanges on top on bottom on both sides and that provides a little space, maybe an inch or an inch in a half. That with my new cold air intake my engine growls a bit at start up and sounds as loud, if not louder than a stock GT.
BN3RNG8 08-03-2009, 09:33 PM HERE IT IS! My straight pipes are DONE! Link below!
