Next time you are in Engineering Mode - what is your throttle position when you are NOT pressing the throttle?

At rest the DIC reports 19.8% throttle position without me touching the pedal.

There seems to be a lot of delay when starting off from a stop - you push the petal and there is no immediate reaction from the engine. I realize that I am used to a mechanical connection between the accellerator and the throttle body, but the off-idle behavior of the fly-by-wire system is disconcerting at best. It is making pulling out into Atlanta traffic more exciting that it should be.

I was wondering if the strange throttle position reported when off the throttle has any bearing on the off-idle behavior.

Has anyone else seen and what is your TP at idle?

Thanks

Tom

I will check it, but I can tell you the fly-by-wire is not the *cause* of the lack of off-idle power. It is following orders from the ECM. There are PLENTY of reasons your throttle response is poor, and a custom tune fixes all of that.

Tom you didn't state if you were in gear or not, but I went out and checked mine.

At idle:

It goes to 10 to 11 percent in drive.

Mine reads the same as G8 Ray

Nearly 20% at idle is really high, IMO. I'd have it looked at.

Here's my numbers, motor at operating temp.

Throttle position ~4.3%
RPM ~ 560
Transmission in PARK

It must have been a one time problem, because now (on a cold engine) I'm getting 9.4% in Park, 9.6% in Neutral, and 11.7 % in Drive.

At least these numbers are more in line with others results and what I would expect.

I'll recheck when the engine is hot (and I don't remember if the A/C was on or not the last time I checked...)

Thanks to all who replied.

I have a buddy with a GTO LS2 in his '96 Impala SS, and the guy that tuned his car sold him on a ported throttle body. The porting got rid of this nasty hump in the throttle body, and increased the low end response like crazy.

I wonder if this throttle body has the same problem?
