I'm not totally sure about this, but it seems to me that the throttle response of my car has gone down since installing my Vararam. I did the whole battery disconnect thing at the beginning, and let the ECU learn for 30 miles. I've driven easily 200 miles now with the thing and though it is hard to remember exactly what the car was like 230 miles ago, I have a nagging feeling it's gotten worse.
The car just doesn't seem to pull as hard as soon as it used to.
I've checked everything in the engine bay, it all seems in order.
Any ideas as to what is going on? should I reconnect the battery? Does the filter side used effect the airflow? (should I flip it around?)

Inherantly adding a CAI to these cars make them run even richer than they do from the factory.
Stock my car was around 12.2:1 on the A/F side, tuned it to 13.0:1 and it was spot on. Then added a Rotorfab CAI and th A/F dropped to 12.4:1 and had to touch the tune backup once again.

ive heard of alot of ppl that use OTR CAI's have that problem till they get a tune ...ive read on 1 site that ..you should have a tune when having the OTR style or or the car will run the way your describing ....but im sure theres other members on this site that have the OTR with no tune yet...sounds like you gave the ECM enough time to learn its new way of breathing ..i know my car took a week to learn its new way of breathing ..but i have a volant and OBX throttle body spacer ...try calling vararam and see what they say about it ..goodluck!

a tune makes it work like its supposed to. def lowers throttle response untuned though.

Son of a bee-sting. Did not plan on tuning my car. And I don't want to at all. This is a huge disappointment. I'm surprised after reading so much about the Vararam on the website... Everything I could get my hands on, that I overlooked this seemingly well-known fact. God damn. Looks like its roto-fab for me.
Who wants a Vararam with 230 miles on it?

Wooty hate to tell you this but any cai kit is going to have this issue, rotofab, volant, vararam and so on.
Unless you are ok with just adding a drop in filter at the most then you will need to make some adjustments.
Bone stock these cars are very rich from the factory. Gm would rather go rich than lean so to limit engine damage.
