Well here's the story. My dad works at GM, and therefore gets decent deals through the drive & buy program (he drives a car for a period of time as a company car, then purchase/leases it). My last two cars have been leases through this program, a G6, and my current Grand Prix. I graduate college in the next two weeks (yikes!), and have a pretty solid job as a software engineer. Once I saw the G8 at the auto show last year, I knew I'd eventually have one. Initially my plans were to get a truck, and possibly a year down the road get a G8.

Plans changed due to a number of reasons (lease mileage/pullahead/truck manufacturing strike) and now I've talked myself into ordering a G8. We put the order in today for a liquid red '09 with the sport & premium package. Delivery time is estimated at 7 weeks, and then my dad will have to drive it for 2-4 months (ouch!) before it turns over to me. It will be the first car I've bought ever, as my last two have been leases. I'm scared sh*tless at the thought of owning a car for more than 2 years. I think I'll be happy in the long run though, I plan on driving the wheels off of her.

So yeah, I guess I'm just exclaiming my joy for taking the plunge, and now I start the long patient wait until it becomes mine. I should have the documentation up this weekend if anyone is interested in seeing the '09 order sheet. :thumbsup:

No, but it does have XM, Bluetooth and a bunch of new colors added. Otherwise it's the same.

Yup. I heavily pondered some of the new colors, but the only one that has the red/onyx interior added is the silver. I'm not a big fan of silver cars (though I'm sure it will be amazing on the G8), so I stuck with what I've seen in person. I imagine the sport red will look gorgeous as well.

The last spreadsheet I saw said 7 weeks from the time the confirmed the order, which should be sometime this week. To me it sounds a bit far fetched, but they've been building '09s for a while now so hopefully that numer is accurate. That should put it at the end of may/beggining of June.

Ordered through my dad using the Company Vehicle Operations (CVO). My dealer told me they can't order till July/August. Basically CVO orders a certain number of G8's as a test fleet for GM employees to drive as a company car. These employees get new cars ever 3-4 months. The employees are aloud to order which car they want to drive beforehand, twice a year. At the end of their company drive time, they are able to buy or lease it at a discounted price. So since CVO was already ordering G8's they allow employees to pick what is ordered if they plan on buying/leasing it. How long it will take is the big question. My Grand Prix took about 4 weeks, but it got lost on a truck for 2 weeks between the Canada plant and here. So who knows how long it will take.

So the '09 will have No bluetooth, no nav, but added XM? Last i checked the '08 has Bluetooth atleast... what gives? Atleast i've seen the answer and hang up button, i only assume thats the phone controls for bluetooth, if not how would you connect your phone?

'08 does not come with bluetooth either. That button is for On Star calling.

Has the info for '09s, if you click on "Whats New". Initially the bluetooth connectivity was listed under XM, but it is no longer there, meaning they must have deleted it.

You don't happen to know if the Sports Red metallic is on a current GM car now? I can not tell much from the little car they show the color on. Going between this and the dark gray. Little scared to order a color I have not seen yet.

I would take their word with a grain of salt. He had absolutely no idea the GXP was coming out at all, and what it had in it. He didn't know any of the '08-'09 differences either. I told him most of the specs about the car when we went for a test drive. I suspect it will be sooner then that, though they may not be showing up till the July timeframe.

4gasum has also ordered an '09 thru Enterprise Leasing and they told him to expect it in 3 months. I am attempting to order one thru my dealer, who has been told by the GM District Sales Rep that he would "push it through", meaning my order. I still don't have official confirmation the order has been accepted though. I hope to learn more in the next couple of days.:angel:

I think its kinda is freaking out the salesmen that some customers know much more about the car than they do. I told them up front that I was a car nut. As he was writing down my order, after I told him both packages and sunroof, he asked me about the comfort and sound package. I told him that there were only 4 options, the C&S was included in the premium package. he said, ohh, your right. Typical salesman, how much can we add to the ticket....:damnyou:

I don't care a lot about bluetooth or xm, but would dissapointed if we lose bluetooth.

I do want either blue or silver (new colors)

I do like and want the 2-way remote

I do hope to have a few early (american version) bugs fixed on the 09.

I'm working with the Fleet Manager at my dealership. I've bought four cars over 15 years from him so we "know" each other. He said he'd give me a good deal because I've kept him updated since last year on the G8. He says he gets all his info on the car from me, not his GM sources!:angel:

I am a black/white car kind of guy, but i saw the red G8 at a dealer by me and have now moved that color up to the top of my list.

the red just looks great with the black trim:drool:

so my choice of colors goes like this:

The sport red metallic he's referring to is the new red for '09, its much darker. My guess is it look like this holden color:

The only reason I believe the site, is because they initially had the bluetooth listed as an added feature, and have since retracted it. Also, on my order form there is no mention of the bluetooth anywhere. I guess time will tell, we'll see when she gets over here.

I just got an email from Holden, signed up for updates on the wagon, in any case, Bluetooth is listed as standard equipment on all Commodore cousins to the G8, even the upcoming wagon that we aren't getting! Seems strange to do that incorporation to the Holden vehicles, then pull it out of the assembly line for the G8s?:dunno:

That bothers me too. The last we had read was that there were issues being worked out between the Bluetooth and Onstar electronics. It sounded as though that would happen and Bluetooth would appear on the 09s. I guess Pontiac must have hit a go/no go date on the Bluetooth and had to pull it. I guess it is possible it will be a mid-year release or mid-production release. Disappointing, but not the first time this has happened.

The G8 does not have bluetooth, but it does have it's own telephone. Separate button from OnStar, car has its own phone number, once initialized. Car comes with 30 minutes free time. You can buy additional time for about $40/hundred minutes, but if you buy 100 minutes at initialization time, you can get them for about $17.

Seriously, you still can't "easily" locate a gt.

The 09s are supposed to have BT. Check other forums.
