: What am I to do
The Black Knight 07-09-2009, 05:17 PM I have read some of the posts on here for G8 Sedans, I am totally new to this board and am about to decide if I am interested in getting a 2009 VIN 6G2ER57729L181455 has just about everything and good fuel economy with the V-6. Used to driving SUV's It does not have Bluetooth, Sunroof, but wheels are nice, exterior panther black met looks good. Any suggestions? it was a dealer demo, 6K miles, with external 7 year 100,000 mi. bumper to bumper protection plan it is about 30K after you toss in the residual on my trade that I still owe for. Suggestions anybosy? Am I getting ripped off for the 6cly sedan?
BrandonG777 07-09-2009, 05:20 PM I paid less for a V8 with the Premium Package in Aug 08.
mikemaj82 07-09-2009, 05:43 PM that depends on how much your trade residual is. $30K could be good or bad. I paid about $28K for a fully loaded GT with 19 miles on it, but I didn't owe any money on a trade.
The Black Knight 07-09-2009, 07:11 PM Soooo Close, deal is not too bad considering the trade allowance and all. Is this v6 a good reliable engine and is the fuel economy really just under 30 MPG if your easy on the gas pedal?
Derekprz 07-09-2009, 08:19 PM My V6 has been a reliable engine. If I stay out of the gas, the gas mileage is pretty good. Mine is a little different as I have a Roto-Fab CAI. I saw on the average mpg readout on the D.I.C. of over 28mpg with a average speed of 71mph. But I am often heavy on the throttle so i know I could get better mpg.
effingbrian 07-09-2009, 11:08 PM What is the dealer quoting you for just the vehicle before taxes and trad-in allowance? It sounds like the car has a the premium pkg and comfort and convenience pkg. I would think a price of around $28,500 would be a good place to start. I don't know what the incentives are now, but I got a dealer to quote me a similar equipped 09 G8 for $28,000 then add taxes and doc fee along with the other stuff. Out the door it was about $30,100.
I have the V6 and love it. I am getting about 22 to 25 MPG on a combined city/highway route. Mostly city highway though. I hear a CAI will improve the mileage.
Only thing I would recommend is stop by the dealer first thing in the morning a start the car yourself. Listen for the chirping. You can see the thread on this in the V6 section. It sounds like a pulley is going bad. Once the car warms up you can't hear it at idle. Drive it with the AC off and the windows down otherwise you can't hear it. It will increase in volume around 2000 RPM.
Two days after taking delivery mine started chirping. After the third visit I read the thread and got the dealer to put a Goodyear Gatorback belt on it and have been quite ever since, about 300 miles.
Otherwise it has been a riot to drive. Liquid Red gets a ot of attention especially from the police so watch it.
Sorry about the long post.
Chief 07-10-2009, 08:36 AM It all depends on what the risdual on your trade is. Since it has less than 10k miles, the can still sell it as new and ask for full price. But with a 7 year/100K mile warenty and everything else you say it has, it sounds like a decent deal. Don't go by the milage though, the Gt is rated at only 1 MPG less than the V6. But then again, it all depends on yoru right foot.
I've had my V6 since October, got 11K miles on it, and love it. The V6 is no slouch when it comes to moving the car on down the road, just not quite as quick as the V8.
The Black Knight 07-10-2009, 04:32 PM Thanks Guys, this car is loaded, only thing that is not on it that is in the owners manual is a sun roof, (I am a tall driver6'2") and the Bluetooth Cell phone thing, really would like that, otherwise it seems to have everything else.. I have now driven it, looking for a parking spot in my driveway at the moment, it should fit right in with my 2006 Sierra 2500 Duramax crew cab short bed. I really appreciate all the help. Does anybody have the Bluetooth cell phone thing? Does it work very well? Wonder if is worth it to see if they can install it for me. Cannot see paying for a year for Onstar just to share minutes with my Verizon account, been there done that with the truck and it just did not make sense.
Agent G8 07-11-2009, 09:43 PM My 2008 V6 DEMO (First 888) was listedjust under 24k with just under 7k in miles. No trade-in. Incentives took another 2k off (and I had a bunch of GM Credits) got me out the door under 18k and there may be a GM Owner Loyalty program still out there, but I had gotten rid of my last GM travesty about a year ago.
Love the car so far... will wait to see how well the StabiliTrack works this winter.
gambler 07-11-2009, 11:21 PM I cant imagine paying 30K for the V6. I bought mine 2 weeks ago for 22K (23K out the door), and that was before subtracting the GM Card points. Mine has no upgrades, so adding 2K for the Premium and Comfort and Sound packages gets you to 24K brand new. The extended warranty is another bonus, but you dont have to pay for that if you dont want to. Also look at the stereo section of this board -- A LOT of GT owners are replacing their "upgraded" stereos. I've never replaced speakers before this car, but I replaced the four door speakers myself in an afternoon for less than $150. I could put an amp and some subs in for another $400, but the system sounds great with the new speakers. You can also have Bluetooth added if its necessary. My advice is to look for another dealer who can get you a brand new car for about 5K less!
TrUcKeR 07-11-2009, 11:27 PM #1, you end up with more headroom without the sunroof than with it. I am 6'4, and know a 6'8 guy who loves his G8.
#2, none of the 09's have bluetooth, yet it can be added afterward thru a kit. easy-peasy.
But step up and get the V8. V6's are for......other people. :D
360hp 6.0 still gets good mileage. Highway = 27.4.

Glad you got you're ride. What did you choose? Base Sedan or GT? I chose Base Sedan because as it's been noted by others I felt the Base Sedan suited me best because it accelarated the same or better than the GT and I wouldn't be racing so I didn't care how fast I got up in speed, as long as I did so quickly, and the V6 gives me that. Also the saving of $3-4K on top of the savings on insurance it was better for me. Never even thought about the mpg in my decision. I only got the comfort/sound in my car because the LCD completely changed the look of the car on the inside to me by giving me dual climate control and all of the that. Hated with a passion the stock radio on the Base Sedan. Could care less about the two 8in subs and amp and the other 9 speakers or whatever because I normally change out everything anyway. Haven't done it yet with with this yet because after turning up the amp on the two 8's and turning off the DDL and keeping the bass on 5 I think the stock is fine. I am going to put a 12in sub in the trunk just because I already have a dual sub 12in' box with 2 Pioneer 12's and an amp already from my last car, but I want a trunk now so I'm just going to put 1 back in. Now you're ready to debadge it:wink2:. I just did mine over the weekend. I left the Flagships and left just the chrome "G".

What is this kit? I just bought an 09 white G8, I love everything about this car. I want the bluetooth and asked the dealer about it be he said it was going to be at least $500. Since the 09.5s have it I figured you just swap out something and reprogram the computer (hell mine might have the hardware but just need the cpu reprogrammed).
If anyone has a link to this bluetooth kit I'd greatly appreciate it.
/Sorry for the threadjack

I'm comfortable with my sexuality even with a V6. What's your problem??????? :D
Now back to the original subject. My G8 was about 21K out the door vs 28k MSRP. Mine was the base. No reason you can't do as well with one with options.
squat 07-15-2009, 10:04 AM How are you guys getting these prices? I have the base V6 and got GMSupplier discount because of my job and my price was in the 27s.
31.3 out the door including zero % @ 60 mos, gap insurance too. No GM loyalty, no supplier pricing, no friends and family (oh wait, that's T-Mobile...).

What!? The base G8 and the GT do not have the same acceleration and the base is not faster than the GT. Please explain that statement.
CHale24 07-16-2009, 10:55 AM For what I use the car for they both accelerated the same. Wasn't like I was losing anything by not getting the GT. And to me the Base handled better (yes I know the supsension and everything is the same) but it just felt like it "drove" better than the GT. Nothing against the GT, but we V6'er have reasons for getting a V6. Every person and reason is different.
As far as the pricing, my Base was $27K before adding in insurances and TTL. Some people can get amazing deals and it all depends on what dealer you go to, and sometimes you can go to the same dealer and talk to 2 or 3 different people and get totally different prices. I wish the GMS price was how it used to be, because you could use the GMS price, all the rebates and incentives all together. I had to forfeit the rebates to get the 0%, which was probably better in the long run because when I bought the rebates were only $3K.
CHale24 07-16-2009, 10:56 AM Also us using GMS they're not willing to do anything extra for us since we're already getting the car below invoice. So, some people may get better deals by going in getting the best price for the car period, then using rebates and incentives, or GM card points or whatever else they have.
lg68jcu 07-16-2009, 11:51 AM I am in the works on negotiating 3 deals. Best one wins. I have a 2009 Base V6 for $22,000 before taxes and title, I am trying to get a 2008 base V6 down to $20,500 and might be able to since I got the 2009 at $22,000 (Currently at $21,900 2008's rebates are a bit less). The other is another 2008 just a different car at another dealer. The only problem with these deals are your trade ins. They really try to bend you over. I got an offer for $1500 less than what my vehicle was on KBB and Edmonds. They will try to make up some of that discount some way some how. I walked from the $22,000 deal. I told them I need $1000 more on the trade. Maybe they will call back, maybe they wont. I got a few other options left.

0% amortized over 5 or 6 years (I did the 72 month interest free) vs a 7% loan saves you well over 5k (I think it's over 7k without doing any concrete math) so you were smart with the 0%. I was able to do GMS and the 0%, but I figured this was the best deal I could get because (usually) the 0% won't stack with any rebates offered.

An 08 base V6 will sell for between $17,500 and 19,000 on manheim so there's probably some room for them to come down. I wouldn't be surprised with the prices they quote vs KBB, they usually quote you auction price on a trade in. And why shouldn't they if they're going to take it to an auction to sell it?
CHale24 07-17-2009, 04:23 PM Yeah you used to be able to stack all rebates/incentives with GMS. Was great when you could do that. I'm just glad they let me use GMS and the 0%, thought they were going to tell me no just because they needed to make $ off these. They're not willing to give us anymore than GMS cause we're already just about breaking them. Would've loved to use that $3,000 rebate though....probably would've had no choice but to get a GT then...
