So I was wondering what your guy's oil gauge on the center console is reading.

It rarely deviates from the midpoint of the range.

i was wondering because i was running the car hard today and the oil gauge was reading very low. Close to the 1 setting. You think that is bad?

That can't be good. Mine generally is locked on the 3. If it varies, there is just a flicker below 3 but it will stay one bar above 3 pretty steady when I really get on it.

Mine runs at 4.5 or so when cold, and at idle when hot is around 2 - this increases to about 3 when the rpms are up in the normal driving range.

If it is anything like most OEM gauges the readout means very little. though if it is constatly reading low I would have the dealer check it out. It is usually the sending unit or a bad connection.

I have my binnacle gauge on the dash and that reads in PSI. 4bar = 60PSI approx.

My car on cold start is usually on 60PSI, warm idle 25 to 30PSI (2bar) and warm driving around 40PSI(2.xxbar).

The OEM digital gauge is not very accurate so the binnacle gauges give better readings...

The G8 oil pressure reads as follows:
1 = 20 PSI, 3 = 60PSI and 5 = 100PSI. Your oil pressure should hold near or between 40-65PSI which is normal during regular and hard driving. If your reading 1 = 20PSI or below you need to make a call to Onstar and get a diagnostics done. That is low and a checkup is smart at this point!

Hey jkgmh,

What kind of plate/screen did you use to cover up the factory battery / oil pressure OEM digital gauge? Is it removable so you can compare readings?

what about having a tint shop, tint that screen? if you got like 10% done, then you would still be able to read it but it wouldnt be so bright
