as i understand it - the vortec based l76 does indeed have VVT - does the l76 in the g8 gt have VVT? is this something that can be turned on via tuning - and if so - would it actually prove beneficial?

No vvt in the G8 V8 L76

As far as I know, the V6 cannot shut off cylinders, thus it does not have AFM.

The V8 does not have VVT, as it's an OHV engine, it's not that easy to change the timing on the valves.

The V6 is DOHC, and I believe it has VVT? Not sure on that though, someone with a V6 may know more than I would.

actually the L76 in the trucks have BOTH vvt and afm...

so i am guessing no one knows if it can be activated via tuning - and or if there would be any real benefit.

the G8 GT has Displacement on demand
turns on cylinders at idle or deceleration. but soom as u tuch the gas pedal thats out the door,

yes - but what does that have to do with variable valve timing questions that i am asking?

OHV engines can in fact have VVT in the form of variable cam phasing. Basically a sprocket on the cam that adjusts the phase.

This type of VVT is not very aggressive but it does exist.

Best,
