151 choices? I just check, must be BMW wheels? I assume they are taking in account the hub and lug sizes? I was surprised to see anything on there....

We have had the opportunity to measure up a G8 GT a few weeks ago, and guarantee the fitments shown 100% (on a stock car, stock brakes, not lowered, etc). All wheels will be hubcentric using the provided centering ring.

When will the winter tire choices start becoming available?!

When do you think a photograph will appear?

They were aleady there when I looked yesterday. No steel wheels but tires and alloy wheels were listed.

If I can get cheap 18" alloys or steel wheels I will be happy!

No rush though...

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

AZA, Moda, Enkei and Bremmer have some nice 5 spokes.

Winter packs are ready as mentioned (but won't be listed online for another several weeks), 17" wheels are an option, but I don't expect to have any steelies. I would assume that GM has no immediate plans to sell the G8 with steels from the factory, so we're out of luck there.

So what other vehicles (GM or not) use the same wheel specs? The only reason I ask is when it comes time to sell, I like for the wheels to hopefully fit several other vehicles - so I'm not stuck with them.

There is one wheel for $94 a piece - closeout. It looks a bit like the HSV wheel that was on the show car (18"). I'd probably go this route ... if I ever get my car delivered!

Tire Rack has the "view on vehicle" going.

They really got it up and running quick. I emailed earlier and they said they wouldn't have anything until like 6 months after the car is out. It's been maybe 6 weeks.

Thank the forum for helping find an owner willing to drive over for measurements. Same, I suspect goes for pictures.

Question for TireDoc. With some of teh wheels different replacement studs are listed. Does this mean if we put aftermarket rims on we can't still use the factory rims? And can you explain to us the hubcentric deal. Is this something relatively (at least since 2003 when I last bought rims from you)) new in the aftermarket rim industry? (ability to stock less, fit more)

We provide new lug nuts at no charge when you buy wheels, but studs remain unchanged. We do this so people with older cars have everything "brand new" for their install, and don't have to use thier old rusty nuts.

Since many manufacturers share bolt patterns (but not hub sizes), most aftermarket wheels are bored bigger than needed and we use centering rings to make it line up on the car. Using rings lets us put the same part number on more than just one make.

Hey, TireDoc -

The G8s are going to need tire pressure monitors installed - I'm assuming I'll have to obtain this from the dealer.

Have you encountered fitment problems with the TPMS sensors on aftermarket wheels of the same size as OEM?

(I'm just looking for one wheel to use as a spare.)

TireDoc

For some strange reason, we did not get the part number for the TPMS sensor when we had the car here. I'm not sure if we can get them or not to put into the wheel if we do a wheel and tire package. 99% of our wheels are now machined to accept the sensors. Even when we plus size to 20's, TMPS is not affected.

IF ANYONE CAN TAKE A PICTURE OF THEIR SENSORS (I need the white serial / part number off the end) I'D APPRECIATE IT !

I think it's no big deal to run a spare without a TPMS sensor, you just don't get a reading for that tire. For a full-up package you'd want 'em on all four for sure.

Tiredoc, if at some point in my "adventures in finding a spare" journey I order a TPMS sensor, I'll get a picture to you.

Thanks, we're supposed to have a V6 car here next week to work with, but I hate waiting. The local dealers are under the impression the car doesn't have sensors (!)

Yep, become more common as I have been told.....

If anyone buys from TireRack, just be sure to give credit to "Doc" when you order on line, or buy on the phone, since he is helping us out here.
