I live in Naples and purchased my White G8 GT 4-4-08. The 2 Devoe dealers have sold at least 5 that I know of. Were delivering an Ignition Orange GT (UUUGGGGLLLLYYYY!!!!!!) on Tues. when I was in. Please note that that is not just my opinion.... They have several V6's that just came in. Cloth interior looks better than expected. NO markups over MSRP! Have ad to customers pushing the loyalty $$$ that mentions the G8 and all the other in demand vehicles like the Buick Enclave.

How about Pembroke Pines. Took delivery on 4/5/08. Sorry Rob but I'll take a bold (and stunning) color like Ignition Orange any day over boring white. And I did. I have had the car to two cruise in's and the strip and have had nothing but compliments on the color. To each his own.

I'm sorry :) Did you see the black one in the showroom? 20 inch wheels and dark tint? Sweet but pricey (almost 37k).

The last time i went was Wensday but, i didnt go in the showroom because i dont like being hassled by dealers. I'll check it out maybe today. Who did you deal with? I've been talking with Vinny.

I dealt with Andy Muir, he's the Internet manager. They're not too bad about the hassle factor. I got there about an hour before my appointment and was able to poke around with minimal hassles. The black one in the showroom is beyond sweet. They have a white one in there done up in the same general way, just slightly different wheels. Definitely worth looking even if you aren't ready to buy.

OK, Who put the note on the Ignition Orange GT in The Fresh Market parking lot yesterday in Pembroke Pines, FL? It's was nice of you. Please reply! Most people who have seen it don't even know what they are looking at. I've had the car less than 2 months and have only seen 1 (red) driving down Pines Blvd.

So, South Florida guys, if you've had any work done, tints, electronics, etc, please share where it was done and if you were happy with it. Also, if you have engine mods please share your experiences on which dealers are cool/not with that.

I haven't had anything done yet but don't plan on staying that way for long. Seems a better bet to have things done at places that have done at least one G8 before.

Thanks!

why yes, yes i do... you aren't in st augustine by chance, are you?? i've seen a few red ones, one with black rims with a red lip, and a couple black ones as well... as for the meets, they have been on hiatus for a while but will hopefully be back soon... however, there is always Sonic on Saturday nights (where your car will be fawned over)... hopefully my friends tuner shop will be hosting another event soon, which is great b/c it is about 100 or so cars and all are american muscle, no ricers allowed... just PM me every now and then, and i will let you know... i will do my best to remember to PM you about this stuff, but i am a very forgetful person...

Definitely pm me or just pm me now and I will give you my personal e-mail. Thanks

i have seen this particular car, it looks good... the sonic on beach blvd, which is ricer/redneck heaven, but there are a few good eggs there from time to time... i know of tony, he builds some crazy fast mustanks and other ford stuff... not to disrespect tony, as he knows ford stuff like the back of his hand, but my guys are GM experts and may be able to fine tune your car a little better... tony may even agree with me on that... but i know they have had a few GTO and F body guys that had been tuned at HP convert to them... tony is a brilliant tuner though, one of the better ones in FL, but it is impossible for anyone to know all the ins and outs of Ford engines and GM engines, as they are both drastically different... their shop is in OP too, next to Fleming Island Auto Body... are you getting headers made, or did you buy the ARH from here??? oh and PM sent...

Not happy with the top matrix on rear window, i had the bright idea of telling them to cut it short so it won't go over it and then add an additional piece for the third brake light. Thinkinig of getting redone

Im here in Cooper City.. But I dont have a G8 just yet.. I currently drive a well modded Yellow EVO.. Lookin to trade it in or sell it for the G8 GT.. Time to go to something a little more laid back, but still has the fun factor.. So I've been creepin around here.. I saw a Black GT around Univ and Griffin, and was Wow'd.. Looked nice and I know it's got a decent motor.. Recently went to the Pontiac dealer in Pines to look at them and was impressed.. I'm just worried about the whole American build quality.. Used to be a Ford nut years ago, and got tired of my stangs fallin apart on me.. And I'm meticulous about servicing and keeping up with my babies.. Had camaro's and Trans am's too and the same thing, they would just fall apart on me.. Please guys.. Tell me something to push me over the edge and do it.. How's the aftermarket? I know there's gotta be something to juice these motors a bit more.. By the way, it's nice to meet you.. I'm John.. Lol...

When I bought it, it was right at 30k. I put about 5k in mods to it, and my quickest time was 11.78 @ 112 - 1.6 60ft, pump gas, street tires.. As for handling, I can't say that I can compare just yet.. Although, not many cars handle like the EVO.. But I'm done with stick.. I also want to move on to something less wild, but still has that fun factor. Seems to me that the G8 has all that to offer.. And they look great too.. I'm just worried now with the company tinkering with the possibility of going chapter 11 or 7.. All these different opinions here about what would happen is makin me nervous.. Either way, I like the G8 alot..

i don't think that GM going bankrupt will mess with warranty....if that was true i would think a lot of Americans would want them to get bailed out so their warranties don't go ****

resale will go down but it already has been so prepare for a hit on resale until this now crap country illegalizes V8s and watch the value skyrocket:drink:

but there is plenty of fun in the G8...the greatest thing about this car is that you can go absolutely crazy with it....then drive it to a fancy resturant and look like you fit in with the other nice looking cars

if your looking to settle down a little but still want 4 doors and even more room then you will love this car

i don't think that GM going bankrupt will mess with warranty....if that was true i would think a lot of Americans would want them to get bailed out so their warranties don't go ****

The whole first 888.. Would that be defind by the last 3 in the vin? If so, I'm 904..

Mavrik120

last 3 VIN numbers are only relevant if it's an actual 1st 888 car with the decal on the dashboard... otherwise they're just random

Ooohh, you get a decal on the dash.. Nifty... Is it a sticker, or an emblem?

Mavrik120
12-06-2008, 08:40 AM
its more of an embossment... not really a sticker you can peel off but printed on... kinda... yeah. Nothing too fancy :P

I just picked mine up about a week ago. The car rides really well, and definitely has some really good potential. I'm thinking stall, cam, headers, tune, and call it a day. Maybe a 100 shot just to break into the 11's every once in a while!

Got a white G8 GT about a month ago. Every option but a sunroof. Should have gotten that! Had 2006 G35 before. This car has much more power, the G35 was more refined.

Overall, a good, fast car that grabs attention!

Checking in from Punta Gorda, my winter home between Sarasota and Fort Myers. So much going on here today, it looked a little like Ft. Lauderdale on a good beach day ... except we have no beach!

Seriously, the change downtown -- just 2 miles west of I-75, Exit 164 -- has been pretty amazing: A beautiful new riverfront conference center opened today, with room for a small car show inside ... there's a new upscale hotel (Wyvern) with a rooftop bar & grill offering nice views ... plus an attrctive new condo/office/retail building ... new Sheraton under construction, also on the Peace River ... new parking garage under construction and several new restaurants. Activities today (Saturday) besides the opening of the conference center included a farmer's market, a flea market, a street fair and a classic car meet. The street fair continues Sunday.

Downtown Punta Gorda is still a work in progress, with a hole in the middle of the donut, so to speak -- vacant land surrounded by all this new development. It's happening this way, and at this time, because of Hurricane Charley (Friday the 13th of August, 2004) and its aftermath. Come on by and enjoy a place that has the appearance, at least, of an economic recovery! :popcorn2:

Hey there Snowbird.. I remember quite well what was left of Punta Gorda and Arcadia.. I did a lot of Hurricane relief up there, with the local Law Enforcement.. Glad that everything is getting back to normal.. Cutler Ridge down here was a mess too after Andrew..

Hey fellow SFloridians, I'm a prospective G8 GT buyer here in Miami. I currently have an '06 RX8 which I have to turn in Sept. (lease). I must say the RX8 is a blast to drive and knock on wood, has held up well. However, it does lack a bit of power. Since I'm a Mazda owner, Mazda keeps throwing me incentives to take out another vehicle with them.

Since my wife and I are planning on having kids soon, the next car will be a 4 dr, but I would like to keep the fun factor in place. So far I've test driven the Mazda6. I drove the V6 Grand Touring, and I must say I was impressed. It felt solid, had good acceleration and all the bells and whistles. However, I feel the design of the car reminds me more of a Camry.

The G8 GT (which I haven't driven yet) definitely has a better design. I also like the fact that there arent' that many on the road. Unlike BMWs and Audis which you see on every Fn' corner in this town! However, I'm worried about 2 things: Reliability and the Resale Value. I'm seeing 2008 GT's going for $21K - $22K. What are owners experience with them so far? I've read about some issues with oil leaks? What about interior rattles? I can't stand those.

Any info, insight or help would be much appreciated!

I've had mine for a few months, and I love it. Very solid ride, no rattles, etc. And just today as there were seemingly 900 BMW's driving near me on the turnpike, it confirmed how much I love having a car that most people don't even know exists.

we're biased but I expect you'll love the G8. Very few complaints really; only heard of a couple oil leaks out of thousands of owners on the forums. Biggest complaint is probably shifting, not very crisp from factory. go drive one :)

Drove one today and was very impressed, the car freakin hauls ass! The steering wheel "shimmied" a bit when braking but another member told me that the rotors could be warped and should be replaced.

Any of you guys have issues with the paint? Quite concerning how many owners are complaining about how easily it's chipped or peeled....one guy is even suing GM!

I agree about the paint, my mom wasn't paying attention and idled back into the front my car, she had clear coat scrapes on her rear bumper, I got full on chips and a few dents on MY front bumper. Figures.

Morning folks! We are planning a FL G8 gathering for July 16th and would like to invite our South FL friends. If you can make it out go to this thread and place your vote.

http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47199

Note: The first post will give you more details and if anyone needs a place to stay we will find a nice but not too expensive hotel so we can put all the visiting G8's in one spot for those who want that.

I'm from Miami so can someone bring me some Pastelitos? LOL I kid....lol
