: PNW G8 Club Dyno Day!
BobtheMonkee 07-15-2009, 04:15 PM So, Tony brought up this idea in another thread...lets do a dyno day sometime this summer! I would like to get quotes from a few dyno facilities first, then we can go with the one that gives us the best price per run.
This would be a perfect opportunity for some of us to work on our tunes. Those of you that have a vector tune can datalog with my HPTuners and we can send the files to vector so they can update your tune! i can also hopefully fix my tune :)
I'll give Turbo Technologies a call and see what they can do. If someone would like to help me plan this out, please feel free to call around to some Dyno shops and get a quote on a dyno day. We would most likely need 10+ cars to get one reserved.
So, if you get some info, post it here!
DHMOTORSPORTS08 07-15-2009, 04:36 PM I just talked with carbconnections in kirkland and it looks like they are pretty open in august any saturday besides the 1st. but they do book up fast now that its summer time. Ive gone there a few times before and have done one dyno day with them and the nwmazda club in my g8. they are well known for doing dyno tunes and dyno days in washington. they also do all the dyno runs for speedware motorsports in kirkland. they charge $75+tax per car to run on the dyno. they would want to start at 9:30am.
grandmacpubah 07-15-2009, 10:55 PM $75 per run? or discount for the next couple?
Tylerb59 07-15-2009, 11:41 PM Usually for three runs at CC.
IMO You really don't need more then one unless you're tuning or the car wasn't completely warmed up.
I put 368 down on my first and only run stock so until I fold on modifiying I'm out but will definitely come hang out.
grandmacpubah 07-15-2009, 11:43 PM I would be looking for a couple runs to get my vms tune dialed in...tony and I were going to go to cc ourselves, but if we do a group day I'd be down with that.
Tylerb59 07-15-2009, 11:59 PM Dialing in a tune it's great to have your own private session. I went through several rounds on the Cobra and rarely took less then an hour, often nearly 2 hours strapped down on the dyno to get it all dialed in.
Benefit of group sessions is a group rate although Carb Conn isn't known for their cheap pricing. I haven't been back there since 2003 after some fallout in the Mustang community. We've been going up to Meridian Performance in Bellingham ever since and love it. I'm 100% certain 99% of forum attendees DON'T want to drive up there. :)
DragoonRaven 07-16-2009, 12:02 AM Hmm, good idea! I've been wanting to see the kind of power ol' Gert puts down with the 12-second mods, and before the Not-So-Secret Winter Project™.
grandmacpubah 07-16-2009, 12:04 AM ya I thought about that...I'd be wanting to dial in my tune and someone would be wanting to hop on the dyno...everyone would hate me afterwords lol
I'd drive to bellingham xD it's not that far.
BBBBGXP 07-16-2009, 12:11 AM If you guys want to work something up in the next day or two, I can get it on the flyer Mike and I are putting together showing the PNW G8 Owners Club events for the next few months. I was going to drop it off to get it copied (at Office Depot) either Friday or Saturday, but I can hold off until Monday or Tuesday if that would work for you guys!?! :wink2::pir_flag:
DHMOTORSPORTS08 07-17-2009, 10:15 PM carb connections usually charges alot more for dyno runs but if we can get like atleast 5 people going we can schedule something. lets get the ball running on this one. if someone knows a better place we can all agree on lets call them and get prices if not i really like cc work.
BBBBGXP 07-18-2009, 12:03 AM You guys are way too slow on making up your minds! Like a bunch of old women! So the flyers are done, and copied, without your dyno day listed! If you put if off for a few weeks we can add it for the next version, probably in the 2nd week of August, or whenever we get a bunch of new events to advertise/post/get the word out on!:wink2::pir_flag:
BobtheMonkee 07-18-2009, 12:30 PM lol, john...why the rush? this was just a feeler topic...now that i know people are actually interested in doing a dyno day, i'll schedule something
BBBBGXP 07-18-2009, 07:50 PM lol, john...why the rush? this was just a feeler topic...now that i know people are actually interested in doing a dyno day, i'll schedule something
Brandon~ Because the first event listed on the flyer is the Leavenworth trip which is the 25th, like next weekend! Had to get it out there so people would know. We do everything last minute, and no one will want to do anything. No credibility in our ability to arrange events, or announce them either! Maybe after we've been around awhile we can shotgun stuff and still get turnouts, but its important while we are fledglings to be timely and accurate!:wink2: The way we arranged the flyer, which you all will see, is the earliest to the latest. So as events pass, we update by deleting the one on top and adding the newest to the bottom. It gives all events the most exposure, and is really easy to do!:wink2::pir_flag:
Seattle09GT 07-22-2009, 12:27 PM I've been so busy at work and catching up on threads.
$75 for three runs to get a baseline on my car?
IN! That is a really good deal. Need to know a date, we have a lot of events coming up in August/September. If it is the morning of the 1st, I can do it.
DHMOTORSPORTS08 07-22-2009, 08:30 PM they are already booked on the first but any saturday after they probabaly can still do. What does everyone think about setting this up. any suggestions on dates or other locations. We should stop talking about it and start planning something.
BobtheMonkee 07-22-2009, 08:46 PM Right on, i'll call turbo and a couple of other places tomorrow then we can schedule for a couple of weeks from now...depending on availability
I might open this up to LSXNation guys as well. Having more people may lower the price of runs. And more is always better! Let me know what you guys think.
grandmacpubah 07-22-2009, 10:54 PM lsxnation guys are too poor to afford the gas in their hoopdy f bodies.
Seattle09GT 07-22-2009, 11:14 PM I would suggest we do a dyno day in October. We have a TON of activity coming up between 7/25 to 9/29.
7/25 - Pontiac Leavenworth Cruise
8/16 - All Pontiac Car Show
8/30??? - I think that is the date for the first annual meet
9/12 (pending) - Bonney Lake Sonic Burger opening
9/18 - 9/19 - BOP @ Bremerton Raceway
Going to be hard to get a dyno day in before October.
BobtheMonkee 07-22-2009, 11:41 PM most of those hoopdies are faster than your smurf ;)
r33pwrd 07-23-2009, 10:18 AM Guys I can call drift office in Auburn... I bet he would be cheaper than carb connection.. tends to be a Nissan shop but they love the LSX motors as well (they put them in their 240's) he only charged me $100 for a hour of tune time....
BobtheMonkee 07-23-2009, 10:32 AM sure, give em a call and get a quote :)
DHMOTORSPORTS08 07-23-2009, 06:40 PM ok nice we got things rolling. I would not recommened telling lsxnation right now. We want alot of cars to show but not to many. If we have alot show it will make it so we have less runs per car. I would ask them how many runs we get for that cost and what is a good number for them to handle before they start saying we will have to cut it short to fit everyone in
grandmacpubah 07-23-2009, 10:45 PM most of those hoopdies are faster than your smurf ;)
but they can never prove it because their too poor to go more than a 10 mile radius around their house...
BBBBGXP 07-26-2009, 01:17 PM Mike and I will probably be updating the flyer next week, so if you guys would like to come up with a date and location we can include it in the second edition!:wink2::pir_flag:
DHMOTORSPORTS08 09-25-2009, 04:43 PM so whats up with the dyno day. summer has ended and we had nothing happen. If we want i will contact carbconnections again and set something up unless someone else has something better and actally does something with it.
08G8V8 05-25-2010, 12:18 AM BUMP!
Hey, any interest in getting your car on the dyno to see where you stand for power?
David, get those damn headers out of your trunk and on your car!!
I know Tony has already been on the dyno. Talked with David a few weeks ago about this. We are both interested, and I'm sure Jesse would be interested.

David doesn't want to put his car on the Dyno, he is afraid I will have more power than him! :driving:

HAHAHA funny tony. I dont think u would want to dyno against me.
DHMOTORSPORTS08 05-26-2010, 04:45 AM plus my brembo brakes add like 25 rwhp per wheel
Christiancoach 05-26-2010, 05:10 PM plus my brembo brakes add like 25 rwhp per wheel
That's cool, I have Brembos as well!
Where I think I might be in trouble is the 15hp gain you get from that Vortex generator on your rear window!
08G8V8 05-26-2010, 05:13 PM That's cool, I have Brembos as well!
Not on the rear like David!!
I set up an appointment at Carb Connection for this Saturday. I want to know where I'm at.

I would still do a group dyno day if we could get enough people interested. I just didn't want to wait that long.
I am scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
Rubbabubi 05-30-2010, 10:31 PM I've never had a car worth dynoing before, but I would love to see what this car runs stock before I do anything to it. I'm up for a group dyno day if anyone wants to set one up this summer.
Mighty Mouse 07-09-2011, 01:59 PM DOWN! SO DOWN! Anytime around 100 mile radius of Tacoma! lol. I need a base before I get crazy with this thing. Every post after this one should be date, time and location and how many slots we have and need to fill. Lets get it together!
