Baer introduces the ALL NEW Pro Plus brake systems featuring our brand new 6P 6 piston calipers and 14" slotted, drilled and zinc washed, 2 piece rotors. Attractive styling at an affordable price, Baer's new Pro Plus front and rear brake systems are sure to please the most demanding owners and impress the most critical on-lookers!
The 6P calipers employ the same pad as is original equipment on Corvette C5 and C6 applications. This high performance pad style is available in almost limitless compounds ranging from basic dust-free street use to full race than that of any other pad.
Utilizing the same technology often only found in competition motorsport brake systems costing thousands more, Baer has created one of the most powerful brake systems for the money ever offered! With features like internal cross-over tubes, standard powder coated finishes in Red, Black or Silver, and slotted, drilled and zinc washed rotors in 14" diameters, the NEW Pro Plus brake system is sure to look as good as it performs! Systems contain all necessary mounting brackets and hardware, and even come with stainless steel braided hoses. All components meet DOT specifications and are street legal in all 50 states.
Designed to fit most factory or popular aftermarket 17" or larger wheels. To verify fit in any wheel, please download our brake template to check your wheel for clearance. Note: Baer recommends that you check any wheel at any diameter for clearance as wheel center designs also have an effect on caliper clearance. Our rear kits also come with 14" 2-piece rotors and will work with your existing parking brake "drum in hat" configuration. (Note: Rear calipers are physically the same externally, but feature smaller diameter pistons for proper system balance.)
FEATURES:
State of the art, leading edge technology, 6P calipers
Calipers use the same pads as the Corvette C5 and C6
Meets full DOT specifications
Smooth contours and your choice of standard Red, Black or Silver powder coated calipers
Two piece rotors, standard with slotted, drilled and zinc washed finish in 14" diameters
Costs thousands less than systems using comparable calipers with similar technology
Increased brake torque, fade resistance and improved pedal feel

Redshift 07-16-2009, 04:56 PM Fit GXP ?
According to Baer, it hasn't been tested but from the research they've done, it should.

1500ish a axel...
I'm wondering if I can put stock GXP front calipers on the rear of my GXP..

Yeah, if you've ever looked at other BBK you will realize how good of a value and price this is, and for 6 piston calipers that take Corvette pads which are cheap and always easy to get, its a great deal. Free shipping is icing on the cake.
shudog 07-17-2009, 02:48 PM I would think the Brembo's on a GXP would be a better option than this, no?
Redshift 07-17-2009, 02:51 PM I would think the Brembo's on a GXP would be a better option than this, no?
I don't know about that. They are probably the lower tier Brembos...and smaller rotors? It'd be hard to tell without a direct comparison. If you are going just for looks, then either one will work fine. If you want to use them for some track use, I'd guess there might be a difference.
sixfoot9g8gt 07-20-2009, 10:07 AM so the drilled and slotted rotors come with this right? is it everything but the pads? how much would shipping normally be so I know if i'm gonna be pissed off if i wait on these?
Jaysin 07-20-2009, 10:38 AM I would think the Brembo's on a GXP would be a better option than this, no?
The GXP Brembo calipers are 4 piston, not 6 like the Baer's. Baer's have much better rotors also. Additionally, the GXP Brembo's will not work with a stock 18 or 19" GT wheel. :(

Yes, drilled and slotted 2-piece rotors. I'm not sure how much shipping would normally be, but my guess is $50-75 in the USA and over $100 to Canada.

Good points - also, Baer has a 2-piece rotor which is lighter than the GXP rotor and as we all know, lower rotational mass translates to faster acceleration, braking, and cornering.
TsingTsaoNYC 07-20-2009, 12:40 PM Wonder if we can use just the Baer rotors on the stock GXP Brembo system.
sixfoot9g8gt 07-20-2009, 12:41 PM was that a "yes" to not including brake pads? so that would be another ~$180 for the required pads
Redshift 07-20-2009, 02:40 PM was that a "yes" to not including brake pads? so that would be another ~$180 for the required pads
No, sorry, the kit DOES INCLUDE brake pads. It would be ridiculous to sell a BBK without them. Does anyone even do that? :)
sixfoot9g8gt 07-20-2009, 06:55 PM out of stock already?!?! wtf!
Redshift 07-21-2009, 08:19 AM out of stock already?!?! wtf!
Yup, they told me yesterday that we are at about 4-6 weeks wait time now.
twenty2indubz 07-21-2009, 09:41 AM Could I order them in yellow?
Redshift 07-21-2009, 09:44 AM Could I order them in yellow?
Yes, it costs $275 per axle more for custom colors. Here is their yellow:
http://www.baer.com/products/calipers/img/6s-caliper-color-yellow.png
Black, red, and silver are standard and copper, yellow, polished aluminum, and blue are $275 extra per axle.
twenty2indubz 07-21-2009, 01:01 PM I’m diggin that yellow. Need to recover from my wheels and tires first.
Big Daddy G8 07-21-2009, 03:50 PM Does anyone know if these will fit the stock 18"? I know I am being lazy and not checking myself, just trying to see if someone already has checked.

At one point in time Baer did have the fitment templates for the front and rear kits for the G8. I printed up the front kit template and it did fit the stock 18's with flying colors. For some reason the website doesn't list the G8 applications anymore.
Edit: I found this page on Baer's site also stating their kits do fit the stock 18's.

pinhead66 07-24-2009, 07:24 PM Redshift, can we order a front kit with just plain rotors or just slotted rotors? Don't really want the cross drilled. I may be going this route soon since I just tested my GXP Brembo kit which does not fit my 18's. Gotta sell that first though before I can order the Baers.

Yes, those are available, just let me know. It still takes 4-6 weeks to get those done as their standard rotor is drilled.
kev3232 07-24-2009, 11:32 PM i love when someone puts up an ad and then it says "sorry out of stock".
good way to get new customers!
this is one mod i'd love to do, but can't justify $3K as this would be simply an appearance mod for me... and BBK have drawbacks as well, that i'd rather not deal with...
the stock brakes work just fine for me...

Either it was a diabolical scheme to purposely upset the people on a forum where we spend money to advertise, or it was not something that we knew until a few days ago and well after we posted the sale. You decide which one LOL :wink2:

Any luck on getting the templates up? I want to make sure the template I have currently is still the same.

Not yet <sigh> My contact at Baer has been having issues with my e-mail getting stuck in his junk folder lately so I'll need to call tomorrow and find out what the story is on the templates.
LS6GXP 07-27-2009, 11:44 PM Ok so what is up with the two different calipers. One says 6p and the other your showing says 6s. I like the looks of the 6s caliper much better as it looks like a brembo , alcon etc. etc. Not liking the looks of the 6p. Can you explain? This mod is as much a appearance as performance... Thanks:)

The description I got from Baer states 6P is what comes with the kit. The 6S is shown for color but the 6P caliper comes with the kit.

So are they available in another kit? Or just not available for the G8. Thanks :driving:
Redshift 07-29-2009, 07:59 AM So are they available in another kit? Or just not available for the G8. Thanks :driving:
They are available in other Baer kits, none of which fit the G8. This is the only kit available from Baer for the G8.
pinhead66 07-29-2009, 01:12 PM Thanks for the templates and the instructions. Very well detailed.
How long is this price and free shipping going to last?
I need to sell off my GXP Brembo kit before I can make this order.

Price is permanent (unless Baer raises pricing) but free shipping is over - it was a short special meant to spur some orders. I can't run it forever - those boxes are H-E-A-V-Y :)

SmokeyBear911 08-21-2009, 11:36 AM Anyone have this kit yet?
What's the diff. with braking?
I'm kinda standoffish with these replacing Brembos.
I learned a lesson replacing my Brembos on my BMW motorcycle with Galfer Wave rotors. Dunno why I swapped. Took a LONG time to get straightened out.
HSVQUE 08-23-2009, 07:13 PM Is it safe just to run the fronts? As id like to retain my small brakes on the rear for 16" drag slicks..
Also will you ship to Australia?
Thanks

Fronts only are just fine.
I will have to ask Baer if they can ship to Australia for us...email us your full address at info at pfyc dot com.
Dave Ga 08-29-2009, 02:50 PM I have this kit and I am having issues with it right now. They look great and they will throw you through the windshield if you aren't careful but, mine are chattering loudly and we are trying to figure out why. We believe the sound is the brake pads hitting the slots in the rotors and hitting the caliper on the way back. If you slightly press the pedal it goes away, it only does it when you are NOT touching the brakes. Their calipers don't have the spring clips on top to hold the pads like the brembos do so, that is what we are blaming so far. I am thinking about getting smooth rotors from them to solve the problem since the drilled holes are just for show and the slots aren't that necessary for non road racers. Overall for the money not a bad system I just need to fix the noise!

Hey do you have any update with your problem?
Dave Ga 09-05-2009, 02:05 PM I got it a little quieter by turning the rotors (they were a little warped straight from the factory) I am giving up and ordering the smooth ones now. The part that sucks is that Baer says it isn't their rotors so, I am having to make a $1000.00 bet that I am right and they aren't. If there is no noise when I change out the rotors they will probably still say it wasn't their problem which sucks. I will let you know when I get the rotors, who wins the bet! (I won't get paid but, I will get satisfaction!)

I'm curious if others are having any problems as well. I remember reading this thread when it was first started and thought it was weird that no one asked about quality or anything regarding performance. Just seemed like a cheap bbk.
Sorry to hear Baer are shrugging their shoulders. Maybe the vendor could go to bat for you and help you out?
