: Self Ported Throttle Body or Not?

Opinions: should I self port my throttle body or not?

I've read enough, watched enough how-to videos, and talked to a few people where I think I can do this. I even had it off my car today but I wimped out - dremel's ready and all.

Part of the reason for backing off with today's DIY job might have something to do with yesterday's DIY project of removing my intake manifold cover (GRRRR8 Mod) and snapping the very last bolt on the job at the end even while using a torque wrench. Now I'm a little jumpy about trying my next project.

So what do you guys think, do it myself and save the $75.00 or so dollars or hold-off and send it out to get done when I don't need the car for a day or two?

Also, I'm still holding off on my tune until I get some of these minor mods done. By porting this, am I going to throw any codes or anything like that? Will my car start to run too lean or too rich now that there will be a ported throttle body, a Vararam, and a Borla catback but NO tune yet?

Thanks for the advice.

I doubt a ported throttle body would even help you unless you already have a ported intake manifold. Because the same amount of air would still be going in to the engine, it will just be like a bottleneck now.

It's worth it if you do it yourself. But then again if you cant do the manifold without snapping bolts... well then... hrmmmm tough decision.

I snapped my bolt too...I think it's a combination of needing a really good quality in lb torque wrench and the oem bolts sucking. (I never even got to 89in lbs and mine snapped) I'm just going to order a ported intake manifold/TB and have someone put it in.
