The short answer, yes, it's both. I saw a SBM at the auto show, and personally, I did not like it. It is blue, and purple and grey. It is a color shifting paint that looks different depending on light and angle.
Just not for me. I think they should have used one of the GTO blues, either IBM or MBM. Either of them would look totally hot on the G8. Given the color palette available on the G8, I don't think SBM has any place there.

I believe it is the same as K-Pow. See how it looks purple from one angle, blue from another.

There were 6 bare-bones base of these available for tagging at one point, then that dropped to 4, now tehy're out of the system and officially teh color has been halted for US consumption. There was a report that only 18 of these were built - but from what I've seen that # is high. Be a real good car for a bank robber. "What was he driving?" "A blue car." "No it was gray." "Are you two whacked? It was Barney Purple, I tell you."

I saw one on the road in Midlothian, VA last weekend. It looked VERY purple! -would not be my choice.

Funny you should mention that. My business partner's parents have one! But, as you stated, they are not very common.

Those pictures posted by isszy are accurate. Saw a CTF G8 sedan a month ago, and that's what they look like in the states.

The funny thing was I was considering a purple '98 GP GTP back in late summer 07. I got wise and got a white one.

I've seen a few since then and glad I didn't. Boy, it looks dated.

Fast forward to this year and originally I had put in a request for a Stealth Blue G8 GT. After the salesman saw one at a ride and drive in Indy, he wisely recommended me to pick another color.
