Hi folks I am buying a new G8 with a V6 and wanted to get an idea about people's experience in winter with snow. I live in Michigan and was wondering if the V8 with the locking differential is better than the V6 with traction control?

It's all about the tires, which unfortunately the oems are poor in the snow.

all tires and they stink in the snow and rain for that matter

sameero One thing most ( if any) dealers will not tell you is the hood latch problem. The cars were designed to be driven from the right side as you already know. When they put the steering wheel on the left they did not design the hood latch differently. The latch has to be opened from the right side so what they did is put the handle in side the car on the left as they should. But they looped the cable underneath the hood latch to open it from the right. normally not a problem until the loop gets water in it an freezes. And then you will not be able to open the hood. Talk to your service department manager they do have a fix for it. They will order a few parts and move the cable up. Better to do it now then when the winter is on you.

No problem. By the way this issue was not put on the recall list, so the only way the service department will fix it is when you tell them. I live in Dallas and have no intention of being in an area that cold.....but you never know. So I got it fixed anyway. Good luck

thanks for the info! Drove a V6 and V8 in the last two days. Happy with the V6!

I had this problem w/my car and the dealer did fix it. I think the dealer said there was a service bulletin. Sure was embarrassing the first time I went for an oil change in February or so and couldn't get my hood open.
