Ok, took the IOM beast to Firebird Raceway in Phoenix AZ yesterday afternoon. Best was a 13.81 @ 101 w/ 2.09 60'. Car had 602 miles on the clock.

Sounds like a good start to me. Right in line with early reports from the car mags.

Not bad! Phoenix is 1,100' above sea level. Those of us slightly closer to the ocean might have even more luck.

Yea, 1100 feet, heat and zero humidity. Air sucks in general around here except the winter.:burnout:

Not bad. Times seems to be close to stock LS2 GTOs at Firebird.

Not bad. Won't take much to get into the mid 13's or even low.

I am heading to the track on May 16th. Never gone down a strip before. What RPM are you launching at?

Nailing it from idle.

Good times!

My 2006 A4/LS2 GTO (Superchips tune) did a best of 13.05 @ 109 2.0 60' at Speedworld in Phoenix on December 23, 2007. With the ~40f air temp, the DA was right around 100'.

With a tune, these G8s will be putting up nice numbers.

I don't buy that you have just a tune on your car, it sounded different than a stock GTO when you ran it, trust me I've had two and raced them often, at both tracks. That's almost 1 sec faster than stock and 4 mph faster than stock for a A4 GTO bone stock. You'd have to have the fastest tune only A4 GTO in Az with that time and speed.

I'm stupid when it comes to this stuff. Were is New York in this sea level stuff??

I would have to say New York is right at sea level!

My car is going on the dyno saturday for a few pulls before and after the CAI!!! Then back to the track 5/7.

I took mine out to Moroso in West Palm Beach on Saturday night. Launched at 2000rpm. ran a best of 13.96 @ 100.95 mph. It spun the tires a bit in low gear(sport mode)but overall I was pleased for only 1600 miles on the car. Might have run quicker but the driver has considerably more than 1600 miles on the clock.Looking forward to next time.

Altitude is just one of 4 variables in air density.

Altitude / Barometer / Temp / Humdity

And then you still have winds to cope with, and if the humidity is pretty high and your running at night, then you may have dew point to consider with it forming on the floor (slippery) since the ground is almost always colder than the air at night. New York or anywhere else sea level can have bad air too if a low pressure system is present.

I'm taking our down to the track on Friday afternoon. I'm pretty excited to break into the 13s.

Ok, new times for me from 5/9/08. Gates opened at 6pm, got there around 6:30, waited approx 30 mins or so for my first run. Previous times above were at 602 miles, bone stock w/ 42psi tires. 5/9 was with ~1950 miles, roto fab CAI. Temp was in the 90's so the DA was roughly 3500 ft according to the calculations. Anyway, some may have read that I have not really seen much of a gain on the dyno with the RF CAI but that it might have possibly been due to the car not relearning the parameters quickly enough. Well its been a week that it has been on the car. Should have relearned by now but no gain at the track with it either imo.

Run 1: 7:02 pm 14.016 @ 101.86mph 2.148 60'
Run 2: 7:07 pm 14.154 @ 100.51mph 2.162 60'
HOTLAPPING doesnt work but a LS1 GTO wanted to race(i won though, lol)
Run 3: 8:41 pm 13.926 @ 101.38mph 2.128 60' lowered air pressure to 32psi

Either my DA was alot worse last night than 4/11/08, or the CAI isnt worth very much!!:whine:

Other than that, happy otherwise. 5/9 runs all ran in sport mode w/ ESP off.

Just a quick interruption.

I was driving down the highway alongside one of my friends, in his drag prepped 82 camaro. We ran from 60mph up to about 138. We were side by side from the get-go and at around 100, I started to pull hard. I'm thinking that torque management really hurts this car, because out of the hole, the car doesn't move.

Uncorrected............ 13.926 @ 101.38
Corrected............... 13.340 @ 105.63

I put this in another thread by accident.
Go here http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...esA%2C+ARIZONA It was meant for 1992B4C, which I think he found. :D

Scroll down to find the closest location to your track, then surf a bit and you can get the date, times, and weather factors.

Thanks Goat, but are the corrected numbers really legitimate(as in perfect world sea level run would have ran that)? Also, do you know of any websites where I can find the weather numbers of past track dates. I am trying to catalog this stuff more these days so I can tell a difference on each track night, especially for car in the sig! Might buy one of those Kestrel 4000's or similar. Thanks in advance.

Nevermind, weather underground is awesome. Found everything there. My first 13.81 @ 100.6 converts to a 13.38 @ 103.87 corrected. Looks like the CAI is coming off soon!!!

they are not 100% legit in that maybe with the colder weather your 60' and 330' would be affected negatively because of extra/excessive wheelspin. But it is the only thing there is to compare runs from different altitudes/weather conditions.

Cool, I wanted the information to compared my 2 times at the track to pull the heat equation out of it to find out if the cai is helping or hurting!!

Although, my 60's have remained constant for the most part.
