If you guys haven't checked some of the other forums, ls1 tech has a guy that took a brand new g8 to the track, still had the 30 day temp tag, there is video and all the stuff he did. Check this out.

There was a video floating around of one faster than that.. But maybe I'm mistaken??

Based on that. One would think that a tune, exhaust and CIA would put it at about 12.80s.

I think there is some further data that he ran 12.09, I think its the same guy. They are gonna be fast and there is always someone who will try it first. I'm pretty impressed.

Typical atco, not real world times for the rest of us. 13.8-14.4 sec car is realistic.

Yeah, I think its funny how this one video keeps popping up. People are taking it as a "real world time" for the G8. The time was done at ATCO (known for ridiculously fast times) and hasn't been duplicated by anyone else in a stock G8 around the country.

The stock G8 GT's are running high 13s @ 101- 104 mph at the track. With real good track conditions a mid 13 is possible, but high 13s are more the norm.
I chatted with a guy that ran his G8 GT last weekend and the best he could do was 13.9 @ 101 mph in his stock G8 in good weather at a sea level track. So don't be fooled by low 13s. That is not what most G8s run.

Even Pontiac's advertisements state that the G8 runs
13.8 @ 101 mph.

Why is Atco so fast? Is it downhill? Is the track 1250' instead of 1320'?

The DA is usually unmatched out there.

I heard that same car did go a 12.0x with headers/ full exhaust, tune and 100 shot.

atco's right at sealevel (something like 177 some odd feet in elevation) it also is not very humid, the temperatures typically stay perfect for running, and the prep work is amazing. just my general info i know on the track, hopefully someone else can chime in on this one...

True here in San Antonio stock with my charger I ran a best of 13.78 vs 13.42 at Atco. Also there's no wonder the fastest stock charger ran a 13.31, happened to be at atco, which is why no one on lxforums will acknowledge that.

I ran the car at e-town and it ran the same numbers of the bottle with 2 GtG8 and 12.08 on the bottle . Also went back to Atco and went 12.15 @ 115 on spray , 13.10 off spray with tune and D/R 's on .

It's the same way on the GTO boards, only we grudgingly acknowledge it :gr_jest: Just because we're all jealous doesn't mean the time didn't happen.
