Ok, I am an idiot. LOL is there a trick to unplugging the ECM. I don't want to pull too hard on the plugs and have the break on me.
I am thinking there must be an easier way to do this than what I am doing.

Did you buy the extra core from VMS? I have e-mailed them several times but never get complete answers. Want the upgrades and will pay for extra core, but want to make absolutely sure that GM can't determine I had a different ECM in car.
Trying to find out if one has to do a security re-learn and a crankshaft position variation each time one switches back and forth, or does having a second ECM eliminate these proceedures?
Would think they could have given you info. on unplugging the ECM. Post whatever you learn.

They gave me instructions. I have the ECM released from where it mounts. My problem is I don't want to pull too hard on the plugs going into the ECM and do it the wrong way and break them.

It's like there is a locking mechanism on the plug. I can't seem to figure it out. If I could get the two plugs out I am pretty sure I will be good to go.

Here's the plug I am talking about.

If you have a Dashhawk you could do this yourself. Or find someone close to you that would let you user theirs. The G6 crowd doing this only have to do the re-learns once. The factory ecm will not need to be done again.

LOL
I got it. That little red thing has to be pulled out. I tried a dozen times and it didn't move. Finally a neighbor did the same thing and it moved. Then it you depress the button and it pops up and acts as a lever and it comes right off. I feel dumb. LOL

I found it easiest to take the bolts off the fuse box and remove the battery connection. Then loosen your intake at the point that it goes in the motor so it will move around for you.

Wow! Now I can't seem to do the security relearn correctly. I am batting 1000 today :(

So...did you finish the security relearn and test the new ECM? Is it worth the price??? Did they do the tune with the new intake and exhaust figured in?

Yeah, I got it all running just fine now. It worked when I did it a fourth time so I must've missed one of them. You have to do it 3 times in a row. Got all the codes cleared.
I told them the mods I had when I placed the order. I am not sure if anything was adjusted or not. Don't have much of a way to tell LOL.
I am almost to 1,000 miles. Once I hit 1k I am going to change the oil (I know you don't have to but I don't care, LOL) and go get a dyno. That will give me a little better idea of where I am at as far as the tune.
I can definitely tell a difference. I am trying to ease the trans into it. So I have only done a few half throttle runs and one 3/4 throttle runs in sport shift mode. I did do when WOT run in drive. There is a difference. I plan on doing a few more runs in sport shift mode before I start going WOT in it.
It is definitely worth it imo. Especially if they are still running the special on them. I have my old ECM for piece of mind. The new ECM has my VIN on it so no worries with the dealer. More power is ALWAYS good and this is my fiancee's daily driver. Which means a bump in mpg because she babies it.

Thanks much for info. I am planning on similar mods. Have New Era Intake on order. Guess I have to buy the DashHawk to install ECM. Major concern is warranty work issues. Wife will drive car mostly, except for back & forth to FLA. She was sick of our 2 cars with 6Ms and wanted 4 doors. May have to tweak our Yellow GTO next.
