Hello everybody. I am looking at buying a 2009 G8GT. I currently have a Mazdaspeed 6, and although I love the car, I have been seriously looking at buying the G8. Love the look of the car, and the V8 performance with the rear wheel drive is tickling my wallet. I am just looking for some input from people in the states with the car already. I am huge into aftermarket stuff, so wondering what people have been able to find for parts on this car already. Problems with the car? Recalls, TSB's, etc. General input on the car would be much appreciated.

If I buy one, I would be interested in knowing about custom tune options, suspension (shocks, springs, strut bar, etc), exhaust, intake.

Your help will be much appreciated in my decision on purchasing.

Cheers

Ok I will try and be helpfull. I hate ppl who are too lazy to help ppl out and just say "search."

I will try and give u all the knowledge I know of.

I took a GT out for a test drive. Now my previous car was a 99 WS6 TA, which I thought moved. Then I got behind this thing, and it flies. It handles amazing as well. This IS the best Pontiac car they have ever made. The interior is very very very nice. The car rode awesome, handled awesome, and looks really awesome.

Some problems ppl have found is that the battery/oil guages in the middle above the radio, they are annoying and in the way, but thats a minor problem. Everyone has different gripes with the car.

The car has a ton of air bags standard which is always important. 4 wheel disc brakes, stability control, ABS. So safety wise I think your in good shape. The car has LOTS of room inside. I am 6'3 and fit in the car perfecty. The back seats have lots of room as well. The trunk is huge! One of the largest I have seen in a car.

Mods wise, companies are already working on exhaust and suspension for the car. I believe a CAI is already available. People are putting different wings on the cars, rims, and a bunch of other stuff. The car is still brand new so companies are now working on parts, so there should be a LOT of parts coming out for this car.

Someone had a small tune done and they ran under a 13.20 at the drag strip, so this car is going to be a beast. I am still in the process of making up my mind. I def want one though, just thinking about color and all that good stuff.

If you buy this car, you will want to burn your Mazda to the ground. Even if you get the V6, the interior is still the same and it still moves. So, I hope I was able to help you with your questions.

Welcome to the site!

There are NO 2009 G8 GTs in country yet available to the general public. Word is first date to order is May, next month. Then you have to expect a two to three month delivery period before you are a happy G8 camper! As far as mods, check the list to the left of your post! These are people that have taken the initiative to develop their product for the G8 and they've let us all know what they have and will do for us! I would check with them first, before going out on my own.:wink2:

Welcome !

The car has been available in a slightly different form in Australia for 2 years now, so there is already a headstart on modding appearance & suspension. The motor is a core GM offering, so there are plenty of people who have done stuff in the states. For a 'new' car, it has hit the ground running as far as mods are concerned.

Pedders have a long history of modding Holden suspension, and geniune Holden parts can be sourced through JHP (to name just a couple of th many site sponsors).
