First blood to the VE Commodore driven by Todd Kelly (Holden Racing Team)
Since it's the new season now, it's great to see the VE commodore score a win in its first ever race.

Race 2 is on today with Kelly on pole.

this thing is going to be bitchin. look at the cts-v wins here in america. the g8 will surpass even those when it races in 2009

Skaife (Holden) vs Lowndes (Ford) at Barbagello, Perth last month

Well......the season went down to the wire.....last race of the last round. Garth Tander in the VE Commodore is the 2007 V8 Supercar champion............

next year needs more input on here into racing. Ijust noticed that I started this thread at the start of the season......nothing after that until the last round.........:err:

I don't get to see much V8 Supercar action here. I think I might have seen one race on SPEED channel. What sites have the entire broadcast available to stream the video from?

I am not sure how you go about paying/organising streaming
and...make sure it is video from the tv with commentary..rather than just in car live camming

Adelaide round 1 was on Speed Channel yesterday. I believe they are going to run two rounds every Saturday at 1 and 2 PM, right after the DTM.

Prior to the "black brick", we were seeing the Audi.

I suppose its really how much you want to put in the "brown paper bag" at the beginning of the series!!

It is really exciting when they "throw a yellow" so the safety car can be dispatched!!!!!!!

its the brightest red i've ever seen, it doesn't photograph at all though, it always looks orange, even on TV.

Here's a HEAP of random photo's from the day, including cars from the Touring Car Masters (Historics), GT Championship (Exotics), V8 Brutes (slightly modified road going utes), and the V8 Supercars.

we got there around 9:30am, just missing most of the Touring Car Masters, but luckily i got to see the GT Championship. A Ferrari won, with a Lotus 2nd! good to see the little thing up there, its not always that quick!

Unfortunately the V8 Brute race was called off after 2 laps, as there was a massive accident which sent 3 drivers to hospital (one of the cars is in the bunch of photos, was easily the best off out of the accident)

The main V8 race had about 5 safety car periods (not uncommon for a 70-odd lap street circuit) which lead to some of the later cars finishing much higher than i bet even they could imagine. At one stage i think Ford had the top 4 positions, until 2 took each other out (also included in the photo, much to the delight of the Holden fans in the crowd!)

only downside to the day is my skin is now about the colour of Skaife and Tanders paint job! Couldn't be bothered in the end to stay and watch Carlos Santana perform, massive disappointment as i was looking forward to it since it was announced, but was well worth the day out. grrrr stupid deceiving overcast days.

Was this the same event where Ashley Cooper crashed? I thought it looked like he was driving a commodore.

yes Ashley Cooper crashed the previous day, he was racing in the Fujitsu series. Fujitsu is the entry series into the V8 Supercars, normally using hand-me-down race cars from previous years but they are still VERY fast.

i think that made a total of 4 drivers sent to hospital over the weekend, not a good start to the year.

I love watching V8 supercars, but Speed has been giving us the shaft (for the most part) on viewing, but I'll check out their coverage. I had given up hope, but with the above post, I'll look at their schedule.

Round 2 (Eastern Creek Sydney) starts today...at least we have a Holden on pole for race 1 (Skaife)

Now there is a car I wish Holden would make. The Effigy!!!!!!!!!
