Just curious if there is any potential tweaking the stock tune on the 87 octane or is everybody going all the way with 92/93 octane style tunes?
I noticed everybody is taking about CAIs and exhaust, but lets not forget a 160 thermostat. To me that is just as good as those especialy in hot and humid climates. I noticed in my Z06 that between 180 and 200 degrees the car would pull crazy amounts of timing. The ability to keep it in the 180s makes more power available.

A tuner over on LS1 tech was able to gain some 30hp with 87 octane so there is definitely room to be made even with low octane fuel.

Impressive, wonder what is involved in having this done? I would like to keep regular gas and have that increase + like his keeping the 4 cyl and making it run more in that at cruising speeds. Wonder what the cost will be?

just like i thought. GM got the G8 pulling crazy amounts of timing when it gets hotter based on its readings from the IAT and coolant temperature. LIke I said, first thing i would get is a 160 thermostat and change the fan load setting in the tune.
I think I had my fans running at 70 percent between 190-200 and something like 90 percent when it got over 200. Cooler running car = better running car :burnout:

Swapping the stat was one of the first things done in Texas, too damn hot down there!

Well it may not be my call, but I'll certainly comment on it. I come here to learn, if part of the info is "hidden", then maybe I'll need another board to read.
