Debuting at the LS1 Drag Nationals 2008 was our G8 Ute 'TUNER01'. We really didnt know what to expect from this adventure, as not only have we never taken a Gen-TT G8 of any kind to the track, there was also the unknown of the factory 6 speed auto which will no doubt be past its recommended torque rating. Just to add some spice I drove the G8 from Adelaide to Heathcote....a near on 1000 mile return journey all up

Off with the 20 inch rims I run on the street and on with the drag radials....off with the factory stock exhaust (I shouldnt have really bothered with this but it sounded cool) and on with the little dump pipes we made (read: too tight to buy a twin 3 inch). Fitted up with out Gen-TT VE/G8 BB Intercooled Twin Turbocharger system and filled to the brim with fuel to avoid surge, the G8 slams the scales at 4100lb....certainly not a stripped out funny car style setup!

Friday night was a write off with no grip, so on Saturday close to the middle of the day the ute came out in a nice fine 83 degrees heat and pulled off an 11.25 @ 128mph, the only issue being the transmission banging the limiter on the 2 - 3 change and costing substantial time....with this being due to slippage (combination of sticky tyres and track) we decided to pull the pin on winding up the tune and possibly the boost (on 8psi for the 11.2 run) to roll off an easy 10....heres the specs

Its quite cool to have the fastest A6 VE in Australia, and still drive it to work everday getting excellent mpg. Thats the Gen-TT advantage
