Was with my daughter at the Local Dragstip and we saw the victum of a broken output shaft. We spoke to the guy before he broke very nice guy easy going. And after he broke same demenor. Still very easy going. I told him about how some of the Camaro's have had this problem and that I am sure the dealership will have no problem doing the job under warranty considering it had made pretty big news as of late and GM really does not want bad press on thier newest halo car. He said that one other guy from the same dealership had his output shaft break as well. He had the right attitude "stuff breaks then you fix it".

Luckily my first broken output shaft was on a main road.
A cop came shortly after to wave traffic around me til the wrecker came.

To a point he's right. Everything can be fixed.
Most you can do yourself. In my experience it's always best to have transmission work done by someone else. It's expensive. A warranty comes in very handy.

Ok I admit it, I just hate doing transmission work.:whine:

He ran a 13.3 on drag radials. nice car, but I wasn't that impressed.

Heck of a nice go as Blade said. I talked to him, and it didn't seem to bother him at all.

I wanted to see that Stryker Blue (BladeRunner) send his down the track.

I was there in a "watching" capacity, and that always annoys me. LOL

I find it funny how GM will replace a broken shaft due to dragracing. Isn't that somewhere in the manual, by "not covered under warranty" ?

I seriously doubt he brought up that he broke it while drag racing when he brought it into the dealer.

yea but the dealership knows what conditions would cause that to break, so they'd have to assume he was doing something..

They would need to prove it...

A friend at work ordered a 2SS this week. His dealer said the hold on SS production has been lifted - said the problem was tied to a bad batch of transmissions. We were discussing the output shaft breakage, and neither of us knows what actually happens when the shaft breaks. Are other parts damaged? Anything blow up or does the car just stop getting power?

Sorry about my ignorance, but I am curious.
