: Seat stitching issues?
kvUSAF 04-14-2008, 06:37 PM I've tried searching the forum but I'm drawing blanks (which is a good sign), but have any of you G8 owners had issues with the seat stitching coming apart?
My wife is really wanting me to get her one of these, but after owning a 2005 GTO I'm hesitant because of the constant problems I had with the stitching. I had the rear seat covers replaced twice in that car (and they needed it again when I traded it in) so now I'm not very excited about owning another Holden product.
dodson914 04-14-2008, 06:50 PM I haven't read of a single issue of seat stitching. But then again, I am not sure anyone has had one long enough for this to become an issue yet either.
neelnug 04-15-2008, 11:20 AM The seats are built a different way with the stitching. I had the same issue with my '05 GTO. The seat design should hold up a lot better.
tjccpa 04-15-2008, 02:08 PM OK - How do you tear up the BACK seats of a three year old car not once, but twice? Please take the hockey skates off before you get in the car, or whatever else you are doing!!!!

Nice, KvUSAF is da man.
Zaphod B 04-15-2008, 02:17 PM I have close to 1000 miles on my leather interior and no issues so far.
Except that that really cool textured plastic on the dashboard and doors is going to be a bitch to clean.
lonewolfz28 04-15-2008, 05:23 PM Right at 2000 miles a not a sign of a problem on the driver's seat(only one that's gotten much use). If my near 300lbs hasn't stressed the stitching, I don't know what will.

OK, fess up! What were you really doing in those back seats, and remember this is a family oriented forum!?!:eek2::err:

Absolutely nothing. I only had someone ride in the backseat 3 times. I wish I had a good story to tell as to why, but alias I'm old & married. The dealer said the stitching coming apart was a common problem. I even had the back glass tinted to help keep the sun off.
BlueGoat 04-16-2008, 07:09 PM The seats in my '05 GTO (blue leather) are like new after 3 years and 50,000 miles. Don't let the kids use them for a trampoline.

My seats split at 30k miles. Just a poor stitching design on the tops of the back seat. The heat dries the leather and the stitching was too tight and tore through the leather. I think my seats were used 10 times the whole time I had the car.
fast co 04-18-2008, 06:12 PM hey guys try a bit of leather treatment on your seats once a month something from meguars or some ohter brand and your seats will stay new :judge:
OLD_GOAT 04-18-2008, 06:39 PM I noticed some other GTO owners replied.
I would suggest taking it a step further and do a search on ls1gto.com. I did a search on 'seat stitching' on www.ls1gto.com for you. http://ls1gto.com/forums/search.php?searchid=5909615 Good luck.
My fronts were OK, but the back had a small issue after about a year and a half. Note that nobody ever rode in the back seat until I took the guy who bought the car from me on a test ride, and his father and brother were in the back seat.
