Has anybody had any issues with certain mp3 files not playing? Most files will play without any issue, but some just get skipped right over. They show up when browsing through the folders but if you select them to play it just automatically advances to the next "playable" song. I have a very extensive music collection that has been built up over the years from many sources so it is hard to nail down a particular source type as the problem. One file I am trying to troubleshoot today resides on my PC as a *.flac file that is converted to a CBR 320kbps *.mp3 file before burning. Others are *.mp3 files on the PC that are just burned directly to the CD. There is nothing in the manual about limitation of certain filetypes or file parameters other than directory depth and filename length.
The only constant is I am using Media Monkey Gold(www.mediamonkey.com (http://www.mediamonkey.com)) as my media library to rip, manage, convert, and burn my discs.

Ok upon looking a bit deeper the files that are problems are *.flac files that look to be getting corrupted when converting to *.mp3. The filetypes are showing as mp3 but filesize is that of the *.flac file and the tag data and track length are blank.
hmmm.

Vista.
The way MediaMonkey works is I build playlists that conatin all the songs I want to burn onto the disc. The files can be *.mp3, *.flac, whatever. I then set the options for what types of files my device (car) can read. MM then will convert the files that don't fit the criteria into files that do and burns them to the disc.
It is looking like it might be a random error during the batch conversions. If I select the problem files individually they convert just fine. If I run the batch process again the previous problem files are fine but others are screwed up.
I am typing up a thread on the MM forums right now.
hmmm.
Vista has a lot of mp3 codecs restrictions. That's why I asked. If you copy the codec DLL you're using directly into the folder of the applicaton, it might solve the issue.

I rip all my mp3's with the PS3, try ripping them on one of these if you have, or have access to one. It is much faster than computer also.

Any info on these restrictions?

As far as I can tell MM is using the LAME mp3 codec. I haven't spent anymore time on the issue though, the weather has been too nice to be inside screwing with the computer.
