Where is the tire and wheel section? I need to ask whether the wheels from Corvette or BMW M6 will fit my new G8.

Only if its made in Canada and built on a Tuesday. If its built down under only every other Friday will those fit. And if you need to reset the oil minder light its tap tap on the brake pedal and click the cruise button 9 times.:eek2: :eek2

Sorry ruski Just Messin with ya

Hopefully getting wider tires (bigger than 245 atleast!) will be easier on the G8 as opposed to all the hassle some people go through with the GTO!

the HSV commodore somes with 20x9.5s in the rear so i think there shouldnt be too much of a problem ;)

That's what I'm thinking. Now we will have to roll fenders to fit 10.5" wide wheels on the rear. :gr_jest: On a more serious note, I'd have to know the offsets of the M6 wheels before I can say yes or no. As for Corvette wheels, I'm not sure. I will have a leftover WS6 wheel to test fit with. The bolt pattern issue I'm not worried about. But, that combined with the larger 14mm studs (GTOs & Corvettes have 12mm), I won't guarantee it.

if it comes with the set seen in the pictures, i wouldn't touch the wheels, except for maybe a track set

Yeah, fat chance on getting HSV wheels on the mainstream model. Look for the same ones as the Commodores have. But, our good friends at JHP can get you a set like on the show car. :D

Don't know. I'd presume so. I haven't heard anything about ROH losing a contract for building the wheels. Should we look for the return of the Drift Rs? :gr_jest:

Lets just hope that it will be able to fit at least 275's up front and 305's out back.

If HSV can stuff a 9.5" wide rear wheel under there, I know some of us are gonna be running 315s. We'll be trying to fit 335s 2 months after the car comes out.

Nope, it's using a different bolt pattern than the GTO.

Only made for Vipers. Even the Z06 runs 325s.

From what the Aussies have said, the bolt pattern stayed the same. Same old 5x120mm.

Maybe the fenders on the VEs come rolled. It's a nice thought even if it isn't true.

The old Lambo Countach had 345's on it but I don't know if any company still makes them.

Also I'm pretty sure that this car has a different bolt pattern. Remember when everybody was asking if these wheels fit a GTO and the consensus was no? I'm pretty sure that's because it had a different bolt pattern.

Just because the G8/GTO & the Corvette/F-bodys have different bolt patterns (just by 0.65mm) doesn't mean the wheels won't fit. Look at my pics & you will see my Trans Am WS6 wheels that I've been using for 8-9 months.

Maybe 18"x8.5" front, 18"x10" rear. :yumyum:

Offsets, apparently where the main problem, so VESSV wheels dont fit on pre VE studs. Some one spent the time to do it, just to say they could, but it was on a VL (86-88?) Commodore. What a waste.

I thought I heard someone say that the offset stayed the same (+48mm). As for the studs, there is some room on either side of the lug nut hole for a thicker stud to go through. With the correct lug nut, the seat should still be good.

I was just thinking - since it is from Australia, do the wheels spin in the opposite direction?

I know nothing. Rumour has it. An unnamed source said. I forgot where this information came from? Should I use any other disclaimers? :D

19x8 with 245/40R19
9x9.5 with 275/35R19
20x8 with 245/35R20
20x9.5 with 275/30 R20.
front 48mm offset
rear 57mm offset

These numbers should be about right.

This is what Pete posted on ls1gto. And the reason why you couldn't use VE wheels on the GTO was because the center bore is a different size but some CNC work on the wheel can fix that.

The bad news is that no one makes 57mm offset rims in a 5x120 so we're going to have the same issue as the GTO.

I believe the quoted sizes from Pete are what will fit. The standard G8 will come with P245/45R18 on 18 x 8. The GT will have the same size as standard equipment and P245/40R19 on 19 x 8 as an option.

The official word from Holden is that the studs are longer on the VE, therefore the nuts would not give the correct tension on the stud.

Sounds like a marketing bluff to me.

I believe ROH are still making the wheels. Have a look at www.roh.com.au
for other oprions, or www.wheelking.com.au

I believe so too. We'll know when the G8s start hitting these shores.

IIRC, the pitch diameter remains at 5 x 120mm

The centre bore is smaller as stated above

BUT most importantly, the stud diameter has been increased to 14mm from 12mm.

So previous wheels will not fit the new hubs because of centre-bore diameter and stud diameter differences.

There should be enough space in the lug nut holes to allow the stud to pull through. The catch is you may have to use some kind of chrome, aftermarket style lug nut in order to get the correct seat on the wheels. Do not take my word as law, but this is an observation that I have made. I did take a 14mm stud & ran it through the hole on my extra GTO wheel. It went through with no problem.

We did a Ve to VZ comparison today..here's the results..........
We took a VE alloy rim and tried it on a VZ commodore...the stud pattern is the same but the VE rim won't go over the centre hole without machining. The lugnut holes are larger on VE to accomodate the thicker studs. Offset is for a later post........hope this helps
