I've been thinking of doing the same. I thought I saw that the filter was unique for Vararam, and could only be ordered through them. I will be looking into a spare here soon, as I am coming up on needing to re-oil mine.

I bought an extra one with my vararam kit
it had only a small sticker with this number 007441
maybe its the one

How do you access the filter? I know you undo the clasps on both sides, but then do you have to pull the part that goes over the radiator off, or try and move the other part back a little? I have over 7k on the filter, need to see if I need to oil it...

Got to get it, and the green oil, from Vararam. $69.95 for the filter.

I've not tried to take out the filter once installed, but I'd guess the easiest way is to take off the "top half" from the TB to those flimsy clasps.

I called Vararam today. They have some slightly used filters they are selling for a fraction of the $70 price for a new one. They said you can grab the filter and a cleaning kit and she'll be like new. I ordered the kit and they told me about the extra filter, so I grabbed it!

What are the dimensions on that filter?

I wonder if Amsoil makes one of their filters in that size....

Does anybody know of a way to get an extra filter without going through vararam, I called and they want $70 for the filter and cleaning kit or $65 for just the filter, seems a bit steep I was expecting to pay more in the $30-$40 range
