Okay, so I know how to turn off and on the ESP (Stability Control), but how do we turn off and on the traction control. Is there a button or something that I'm overlooking? :dunno:

Thanks!

Yeah, same button. The Chargers can't turn it off!

So hit it once and it's all disabled (seems to be)? On my TBSS you had to hold it for a couple extra seconds to turn them both off.

You have to just press it once for a second and on your drivers display between the speedo and Tach it will confirm that it is either on or off....

yep, it'll burns the tires much easier. I should probably leave it on.

I am bringing up this post again because i am not sure about how to turn off traction control. When i press the button in front of the shifter, the DIC says the stability control is turned off, but nothing about traction control.

The manual says both are turned off when you hit the button forward of the shifter, not sure what page as I'm at work. Haven't tried yet, still waiting out my break-in period.

just turn the esp off, then just come on to the 8 and you will know it is turned off. Just make sure not close to any ditches or telephone poles LOL.. the dic display should then not show the stability control active...

Oh ok, so you have to turn off both. That kinda sucks. In my grand prix, you were able to turn off traction control alone by hitting the button once, or both traction and stability control together by pressing and holding for a few seconds.

ESC/TC is an itergrated system. You can not turn off one and not the other. They are either both on (by default, when you start the car) or off, by pressing the button in front of the shifter. There is no inbetween. It's a black and white world , my friend. :wink2:

My buddies 09 Charger SRT8 you can turn both off. Click it once you take traction control off, hold it down and the ESP (or whatever Dodge calls it) turns off as well.

I don't think that was true in my grand prix GXP. With both on, i could not break the tires loose, TC would cut the power. With TC off only, I could spin the tires all day but the car would still stay straight. With both TC and stability off, the tires would spin but the torque steer would send me all over the road, kinda scary!

Possibly the truth for the G8, as I haven't checked the manual to confirm. So I'll take your word for it.

But not necessarily true for ESC/TSC systems in general. I have a Solstice GXP, and the Solstice GXP and Sky Redline have four different ESC/TSC settings. (GXP/Redline specific option as far as I know, not available on the base models).

1 - Default setting when you turn on the car is ESC/TSC both active.
2 - Turn off traction control by hitting the button once. ESC will still be active.
3 - Turn off both traction control and ESC by pressing and holding the button briefly (its actually about 10 seconds). Traction Control and ESC are both completely disabled.
4 - Competive Mode - allows the driver full control of the rear wheels while the ESC system helps maintain directional control of the vehicle by selective brake application (basically traction control is off and ESC has a higher threshold than the "normal driving" setting). Competive Mode is of course recommended for "track events and competitive driving venues" only. :D

I wonder if the G8 GXP will have some of these additional settings, above and beyond the basic ESC/TSC system on the lower level models???

Just look in section 8 of the owners manual. It's all in there.
