Long story here but I just ha dmy ECU replaced with just under 12000 miles on the car.
It all started when I took off the magna flow exhaust and put my stock exhaust back on. The next day, i got a check engine light. Called onstar and they said it was a O2 sensor slow to respond. So I take it to the dealer and they checked out the car. All of the O2 sensors were working, code was for the second O2 sensor ond rivers side. So it wa sno big deal as that one only monitors the cat to see if it's working, dosen't mess with the AFR.
About a week later, get the same thing and onsatr says the same code. take it to teh dealer, same O2 sensor so they order one. They replaced it when it came in and sent me on my way. Next day, same thing again, same code, O2 sensor. GM tells teh dealer to relearn the ECU as that may be the probelm with the sensor. Do all that and away I go.
A few eeks later, same scenario. My tech rep was going on vacation so I just told him to call me when he got back in and we'd see what was going on. Well the check engine light went on and off several times while he was gone. When I finaly get the car back in the shop, they say it had several different O2 sensor codes. They followed the fault tree and it said to replace the ECU. They called GM and they said they did not have any recored of bad ECU's as of yet but they ha dbeen having problems with the O2 sensors. they doubled checked everything and GM said replace the ECU.
Well there was a mix up in getting the ECU and the dealer spent an extra day playing with my car, they finally got the ECU to fail and stay broke vice the intremitent fault I had been getting. So they got the ECU in and reprogramed and I got the car bak. So far so good as I took it on a little 400 mile trip after I picke dit up. I did tell my service rep that if it broke again, I wanted a new car, a MGM GXP if they could find one as they only made abpout 40 of them. We'll see what happens.
