: Anyone purchase from Woody in Elgin?
Jason G 04-17-2008, 06:56 PM I am from Wisconsin, but I will be in Rockford for the weekend. I was thinking of making a side trip to Elgin and visit Woody BPG. I am tired of dealing with dealerships here in Wisconsin that arent willing to deal. I was curious if anyone has purchased a G8 at the Elgin Woody, and who should I deal with. I will be there Saturday morning probably.
Thanks,
Jason
CMNTMXR57 04-17-2008, 11:00 PM No, but they have 9 on the ground now. 4 Phantom Black, 3 red, 2 Magnetic Grey. 4 of the 9 are GT's. (I drive by Woody every night on my way home from work).
They advertise on a local radio station quite heavily (mentioning the G8 specifically) and seem to be willing to deal as all as allowing loyalty discounts and whatnot. And "Woody himself is in the showroom with his checkbook to give you top dollar on your trade!" :D
baabootoo 04-17-2008, 11:39 PM Is he better than the "King of Cars"???????
Jason G 04-18-2008, 06:45 AM Thanks CMNTMXR57 for the input!
Well, I am going to call prior to making the drive, but I think it is worth my time either way. Yesterday I made a 80 miles each way drive to a dealer to be low-balled on my trade-in. I am glad I did get to finally test drive a GT car, though. And I will be in Rockford anyway, so I will leave early and make the drive.
Thanks,
Jason
scottz 04-18-2008, 08:30 AM I bought my Grand Prix GXP from them in '05. It was the first one they got it and I bought it the day it came in on the truck for the GMS price. They were pretty good to work with and gave what I thought was a good offer on my trade-in.
EDIT: Oops. I forgot that when I bought my GXP it was Navarette Pontiac and Woody bought them out some time after my purchase. Not sure how the purchasing part of the dealership changed but the service dept was unaffected by the change.

I may be around if interested in meeting up to go together.
Kbmars 04-18-2008, 05:57 PM I was in Woody's the other day and they were not willing to offer Supplier Discounts on the GT but were on the V6. They also tried to tell me that all 2008's are 888 edition cars and that the GXP was a myth. So that tells you how much they know. It was the sales manager who I spoke with.
Jason G 04-18-2008, 07:32 PM I have been emailing a Kim (Internet Sales) at Woody. She was upfront about the price, they are selling them for MSRP, and that's that. I have a supplier pricing code, but I am hoping my trade-in will be alright without it. Supplier pricing typically doesnt work that well while having a trade-in. If you have the supplier or GMS pricing, they just adjust the trade-in accordingly.
They are holding the Magnetic Grey GT for me until morning.
I appreciate everyone's help!
Ryan M 04-19-2008, 05:41 AM I am tired of dealing with dealerships here in Wisconsin that arent willing to deal.
Maybe that explains why I have yet to see a G8 GT or V6 on the streets of WI during my ~ 60 mile/day commute.

LOL!
Jason G 04-20-2008, 12:28 PM I was at Woodys Saturday. I was offered the lowest amount out of any of the dealerships I have been to (almost $5000 less than one near Wausau, WI) for my trade. it was a joke. And because the G8 has a pretty low markup to begin with, all G8s come equipped with dealer installed paint and fabric protection for the low low cost of $699. I laughed at that, and they were gracious enough to remove it and sell me the car for MSRP! WOW!!! Needless to say, the hunt continues!
Thanks,
Jason
CMNTMXR57 04-20-2008, 07:38 PM Isn't the interior already scotch-garded?
Jason G 04-21-2008, 08:03 AM The whole deal was a joke. They wont accept supplier pricing, which is fine, about half the dealers I called wont. So, I was hoping for the best on my trade. I was offered about $5k less than another dealer offered me (which I should have jumped-on, but missed my chance), and they acted like they were offering me top-dollar. And only the G8s had the paint/fabric protection, just to pad the markup. I was pissed when I saw that, no one mentioned that to me before I came in, so they removed it. So when you figure I could have purchased the SAME car at another dealership for $5000 less, plus the $700 in protection, I would say Woody is a joke. The Kim I dealt with was very nice, but the salesmanager was a laugh.
Kbmars 04-21-2008, 11:01 AM I get my Yukon XL serviced there (warranty stuff only) and the sales staff always come across like the stereotypical used car group. It's definitely a step below some of the new remodeled dealers. I've never been impressed. I live about 5 miles from Woody's but I'll go somewhere else to buy.
CMNTMXR57 04-21-2008, 11:22 PM So Woody himself wasn't there with his checkbook to give you top dollar on your trade as his radio commercials claim?
CMNTMXR57 05-03-2008, 10:57 AM I went over there yesterday.
They are moving them. They only have 4 left, 2 GT's, 2 V6. Woody himself is driving the white fully loaded, 19" wheeled car. The other GT is a magnetic grey, 18", non-sunroofed car.
The salesman informed me that they are selling them at sticker.

I'm not sure I'd be that comfortable driving around with a Woody.
CMNTMXR57 05-04-2008, 09:43 AM Why? I do all the time. :p
