Newbe here. First GM car, and first car with any power in a few years (kids). MSM '09 GT in Jacksonville NC.

Welcome and enjoy the power also my first new car with alot of power in several years if you enjoy the power however it will show at the pump.

Yeah LOL, my '03 Mach 1 used to get about 12mpg around town here. It was hard keeping my foot out of the throttle after all the work I had done to it.

So far I'm getting about 22.4-24.2mpg on the drive into work. Something about AFM/DOD to keep me in line.

The first thing that I did was remove the Pontiac arrow head from the center of the trunk lid , it was on crooked so the dealer ordered a new one and so far I have not replaced it. Other thing was to go over the car with a fine close inspection to find any defects in the paint or chips in the wheels then a good polishing and cleaning of the leather since the car had been on the lot for some time before I bought was built in Jan of 09.If you hear a tire rub on making a turn check under the front fenders at the springs and make sure that the dealer removed the shipping block from the top 2 coils on both sides of the car. They are red in color .

Don't know of anyone in The Raleigh but am sure there is someone in that area. In the Mooresville there is a couple of places one is PCM for less and check with Tick performance also they can give you the PCM for less number they are beside each other. Check around the local hangouts for tuners like Sonic :driving:

Did your car come from Bell and Bell near North Myrtle Beach? Back when I was looking for a G8 I checked out some of their online sales on Cars.com and every single G8 that they had on their lot had a Bracket so they could display their Dealer Advertisement Plate on the front. Idiots :slap:

They said, "we have one coming in" I thought that was a blow off. Three weeks later they called me back, and bam, we made the deal. That really sucks, freaking hate the things. More than likely your dealer wanted some advertisement. Brackets should be in the car or trunk when delievered and are installed by dealers during prep. Mine was in the trunk.

Met a guy last night at Piedmont Dragway. If I'm getting it right, his name is Lynn Locklear from Pittsboro, NC and drives a 2009 G8 GT. Just FYI, I had three passes last night and all 3 I ran a ET 8.9 @ 81 MPH (1/8th mile). I guess not too bad for a stock G8 GT with a Superchips tune. His times were 9.2 and 9.4 @ I believe 79 MPH (totally stock).

He said he was going to join this board soon.

just fyi, we can add the NC state troopers to the list. They have a PBM gt running around the eastern NC area, he had a vette on the side of the road the other day:eek2:. I will try to catch up with him(hopefully not the other way around) and get the details on the car

Finally met up with the owner of the red GT here in Clayton (of course I just parked my car after returning from Greensboro and was in my truck). She knows about the boards and hopefully will join us at a future get together.
Didn't see anybody in Greensboro, but saw a White Hot and a SRM westbound on 40 around Chapel Thrill about 1 minute apart.
There's still a PBM sedan here in town that I can never seem to corner.

Welcome to the board. Not many of us in Gboro. Had dinner in Burlington and rode through David Wescott and they have gotten in two G8 Gt's in the past few days one is Red and the other is MGM. According to window sticker came out of a dealer in Fla. That is where I bought my WH in Aug.:driving:

The Carolina people try to GTG once in a while but I have not been able to attend any yet. I looked for a used one first but with the promo that GM had when I bought it was better to buy new in my situation

Welcome! I use to live in Martinsville, VA. My ex-wife and son still live up there.

We haven't really discussed having another GSO meet, but if you want to try to get together we can see if there's any interest. I believe the next NC meet should be in the Raleigh area, but I've been pretty busy with other things recently and haven't had a chance to think about the next NC get together. After this weekend I start my prep for Autofair.

Should have a GTG sometime soon. I've been out of commission for a while with surgery, but I'm up and around again (sort of) now. Should have a lunch type GTG soon, but I'm also thinking of hosting a bigger GTG around Memorial Day at our place. Might would end up being a joint G8 and Avalanche GTG complete with lots of modding going on, poker, grilled burgers, chicken, hotdogs, etc. That one's still not a definite yet, but hoping we can arrange it.

Hmm...that's two that have posted that do not have a G8. Maybe I'll add a 2nd list to the post and have two categories, one for G8 Owners and one for G8 Enthusiasts. That way, we still have an accurate count of people in the region that are interested in participating, regardless of whether you own one or not. Once you get one, post back and I'll move you to the Owners list and update the counts accordingly.

Had oil change today and decided to test drive a GXP while I was there.Of course I wanted it to be the M6 when I did and sure enough it was.I was impressed!I had a salesman with me so I did not get in it as much as I would have But I did step in it and she has the feel I crave.I just can not see paying all that much more though.only had about 4200 miles and they wanted 39,999.00.I am sure they would move down some but just do not know for now......Loved the car and figured I share the exp. with you guys

There are three of us local that have fairly quick GT's and a GXP. 2 of us are running 11.30's and the other has been 12.30's. I see your looking for exhaust stuff. I happen to have headers and a headpipe you may be interested in.

If not we need to look into doing something that we can spot but nothing big and gaudy. Each person would be designated by what number they were when they signed in .Like I think that I am #46.

Cool...that makes me #1 lol! To answer your question I believe the answer is no as I have not seen or heard anything regarding a decal. Were you thinking of something that would go on the rear window or something else. Not much of a fan of sticking stuff on cars, especially on the bumpers, but I suppose a window decal might work. Trouble is, for it to be non gaudy it would need to be fairly small so not sure how well it would show up. With the Avalanche club what we did was adopt a universal mod to let everyone know. We changed out the DRL's to ambers. Obviously we can't do that here as DRL's are the headlights, but maybe someone would have another idea.

It would be a good idea! Im not big on bumper stickers either. So maybe the number in the top left corner of the rear windsheild where the tint is, that way it can stay small, and still be viewable.

Funny you all talk about this I actually registered carolinag8.com back last year sometime in case we wanted to start a regional site. Not sure we've hit critical mass for that or not yet, but really don't have the time to put it together and run one right now. Too many other sites to manage lol!

I agree with both of you that it should be small and rear window is fine just not sure how well it would show up to people unless you just happened to be right behind at a light or something.
