As some of you know Texas (DFW area) had some pretty hellacious storms last nite. I was at a friends house showing off the new G8 of couse when they hit. I found an awning to park under. But the hood of the G8 was no match for golf-ball sized hail. It looks like only the hood was damaged. Since the car is not even 24 hours old, im not sure what would be the best course of action. Obviously all i need is a new hood.

OUCH! We were at our last pre-marital counseling meeting. We left 10 minutes in to it and went home and pulled it into the garage. Luckily, the worst parts of split and went to the north and south of us. We got some strong winds, rain but no hail.

Best of luck getting everything fixed up. Hope it goes well.

I can only imagine how bad you feel about your new car. We had similar storms on Hilton Head Island last month - two days before I got my G8, and several cars had thousands of dollars of damage done with hail the size of baseballs. Heartbreaking.

yea. it might be a week or so before it gets fixed. I 'think' it just needs a hood. But allstate is setting something up in the area for hail damaged cars.

We got so much hail in Mansfield it looked like snow drifts! Got the wifes Jetta in the Garage, but there was no way my truck was going to fit. Roof and Hood are toast and Ive got one dent in the side of the bed.

$1600-$2000 in damage says Service King depending on if they have to put on a new hood.

Lousy $500 deductable.................

Man, I am SO sorry. That just sucks. Especially since you were trying to sell the Ford. Best of luck getting everything fixed up.

Better get to welding on those axlebacks. ;)

Jerry's Gm had 2 G8 GTs on the lot Thursday. I'm sure they're willing to deal.:wink2:

I live about a mile from there, and I don't know which was louder, the storm or the news helicopters checking out the damage at 5:00 am. Here's a pic to show what golf ball size hail looks like.

You can't do the paintless dent removal like dentx on hail damaged hoods and roofs?

Sorry about your brand new G8 :(

Man that sucks! We had rain, hail (just pea size), and snow today. Some areas in the north even got a couple of inches of snow! Not bad for the Pacific Northwest, west of the Cascade Mountains, in mid April! It's usually in the 60s here by now! Must be Al Gore's global warming!

That does suck indeed. I wonder how the owners of Dealerships feel (Im not even sure if insurance could cover this for a dealer?)

I remember in my weather and climate class that there is one part of the US that always gets hail and there are NO dealerships in that area.

I suppose you could do paintless dent removal on one or two small dents, but with 100 or more, I would expect you would still notice them.

My truck has probably 200+ dents in the hood and roof along with one on the bedside. Ins. co. wants to PDR it all and the bodyshop thinks the roof and bed will be fine but not the hood. Hood is aluminum and body shop says PDR isnt going to work.

This still sucks..................

Oh, and I found out my windows on the house are now damaged to!

Watch out on the paintless dent removal. You get what you pay for, as it's only a short term fix. Eventually, the paint will fail and flake off in patches. Some paintless dent removal places drill holes to access panels (doors and fenders usually) and then use rubber plugs to seal the holes. If a plug falls out, water and dirt can get in and cause problems. Some insurance companies won't pay for dentless removal and some dealers won't honor corrosion warranties if dentless removal was performed.

The dents on many of these hail damaged cars will pop out on their own when the car sits in the sun and then cools off (yes, the old icecube trick really works). Problem is, the paint has been weakened and will eventually fail.

With all of that said, buying a hail damaged car is great if you want to do a custom paint job or plan to put on an aftermarket hood (too bad there aren't any lightweight hoods out for the G8 yet).

Some PDR guys do good work.
I had a dent on a crease on my G6 in the rear passenger door. It was removed with no trace, and no paint failure after 2+ years.

Man, that sucks about your rides getting beat up. The storm split right over my house (Springtown) and the worst missed us by just a few miles to the South. Drove to Weatherford today and Jerry's Cadillacs are toast. Want a good deal on an Escalade? LOL

Had my G8 in the garage with my "project" truck and the Goat was outside. The Goat belongs to me lady, so as you might expect she has instructed me to turn of the pace on getting my truck finished! LOL

For the record: the storms this year have SUCKED!

We got really lucky. I live in southwest FW, near Benbrook close to Vickery Blvd & SH183. The storm split as it came over so all I got was heavy rain and high winds.

The storm we had a couple of weeks back that had such strong winds put a couple of scratches on my hood from stuff being blown around in the 70-mph breeze.

Well, get ready for another round this week (possibly) fellas. Looks like we will have 3 chances for severe weather...YEAH!

Haven't we had enough already. The first one I got hit pretty good. The truck held up really well though. Just a few small dents from the hail. Nothing I am going to bother fixing for now.

That last storm was coming right at us and the radar was black where we were. Luckily, it split and went to the north and south of us and all we got was rain and strong winds.

If we get hail I hope it's a lot because I'd love for All State to have to get me a new truck. :)
