Well I had VMS tune my GT the other day and what a difference! They put two different TCM tunes in, the more std. version in "normal" mode, and a more aggressive one in "sport" mode. The car launches/ shifts sooo much better now - the way it should have from the factory! Anyone who isn't happy with the way these shift should give it a try, you won't be dissappointed.

On a scale from 1-10 whats the shift firmness stock? then with the tune?

thanks...

Stock it's like a lot of cars these days - sounds like the engine shuts off (pulling a ton of timing/ tq. mgmt), shifts, then ramps power back in. With the "normal" mode tune it shifts faster and ramps the power in faster. With the "sport" mode tune, it's nice, quick, firm shifts (actually I hate to use firm, more like refined). The one thing I didn't want was a shift like a '70 Nova with a shift kit would have.

If I had to put a number on the quality of shifts, stock would be a 5-6 and tuned would be a 10. On a firmness level, I'd say stock is a 3 and tuned is a 7. That's because there really isn't a "snap" to the shift, it's just nice, quick and smooth.

I hope this helps.

Does the car seem to be less confused when you punch it? It seems that quite often if I am just cruising and punch it will delay and have to think about "did he really just hit the gas?" and then it goes. Very annoying. I am hoping that this will at least correct some of that.

My cables should be here Monday I believe to tune the TCM. I can't wait. :)

VMS has some great options out there for everyone wanting to bring this car alive.

What did the TCM cost?

TCM tune is included in the cost of the ECM tune, right now you can get a brand new ECM (yours to keep) tuned and the TCM tune for $499.

How do we tune the TCM? Are you sending the cable out to do that?

(i was under the impressions from your website that was a local job)

Also what changes were made the the normal driving mode. I understand that the sport mode was changed but what type of changes were made to the normal mode.

I believe it's a cable that will allow you to scan the TCM and email it to them. They then send you the tune, you flash the TCM and send their cables back to them.

so if i were to get the vector tune, would i have to do an intake and exhaust mod before hand??? Or could i do the tune then mod afterwards.

also, what are the gains of the tune to the wheels.

You can do the tune now and do the intake/exhaust later. At that point, you can notify vector and let them know what you have upgraded. For a small fee (if any fee at all) they will recalibrate your ECM so you can gain optimum performance out of your new intake/exhaust additions.
