Hey all! I just picked up my 2009 3.6L G8 on Saturday and just found this forum today:) Just wanted to say hi and I love this car!

My previous car was a '97 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with some bolt-ons. I have to say that this car handles much better. Granted my GTP wasn't lowered, but I did have the full GM handling package including front STB and it was not nearly as fun to drive in twistys as the G8:)

Thanks guys! After I posted my hello, I went out and popped the hood and poked around more thoroughly than at the dealer on Sat. The engine compartment is really set up very nicely.

It seems like it is pretty easy access to the drive belt; seems like you just have to remove the air-intake and you're good to go. I also really like that the battery is in the trunk with jump points under the hood on the driver's side...nice design there:)

I'm waiting until 1k miles to change the conventional oil that's in there, but any recommendations after that? I was thinking Mobil 1. I put in 93 octane Shell after the dealer gas ran out, just because I am used to using it in my GTP.

Since they are no longer producing these cars, is there a way to determine what production number you own? I know, having the 3.6L V6, mine is not nearly as rare as a GT or GXP, but I'm still curious.

I look forward to the forums!

Welcome to the boards!

Dunno about putting premium in a V6, is this okay people?

Congrats and welcome! As for the 93, I think it's a little over kill unless you tune it for the 93. JMO

Just took delivery today on my new 09 G8. I have previously owned 2 Grand Prixs and most recently a Bonneville SSEi. More of a lurker than a poster but I enjoyed the BonnevilleForum site and I look forward to the posts on this one as well. Pics and sigs to come!

Don't run 93 octane fuel. The car is not designed for it. It won't burn as efficiently.

Wow, didn't know that was possible. The owner's manual says 87 is fine and so is 89, I didn't think by going to a higher octane you could actually hinder your performance. Thank you.
