That is awesome. Good dealers are out there. Very few to the extent of your situation. Sound like good guys.

That is definitely a great service department. I need to find one like that in my area.

The whole "good service department" is definitely very true and hard to find. But mine has been awesome. My signature is missing a few mods (cam and bigger shot) and they havent denied any of it yet. The biggest problem is getting parts. I had a thread on here that told of my 28 day wait for an alternator. So sometimes its not the dealership as in my case it was GM not wanting to expedite my alternator. I think they tried to stuff one in a kangaroo's pouch and it drowned on the way here! So anyway blokkem, good luck!

That's good to here they didn't deny you. I talked to my service guys before I put the cat-back on. They told me that Cat-Back is no problem and warned me not to put headers on. I think your issue is exactly why they warned me not to. This is a good thing to know when deciding if you want to put headers on. Thanks for the info.

I think I have the same problem, the 2-3 shift is hard and jerky most of the time. Let us know if it fixed your problem.

Which dealer is that? I would like to know since I am in the same general area as you. Thanks.

Does your 2-3 flare happen in auto mode or just manual. Mine flares badly in manual mode but not so much in automatic mode. I'd just a soon leave it alone because, even though it bothers me, I don't want them tearing-down my transmission. Also, I have a feeling that they'll deny me because they'll say it's supposed to do that in manual mode.

Lastly, does anyone know if leaving it alone will cause problems down the road? I'm not sure what causes this flare but if it's something that I should fix for future considerations, I'll bring it in....

I had good luck well sorta once with my z06. I used to take in with full bolt ons, heads and cam and nitrous for warranty without problems. They loved the car, the bad was everytime they worked on it, they seemed to break something, like a trim piece or cross thread bolts or something to that nature.

Good to know Stowasser is taking care of you.I bought my car from there and they were pretty accommodating with a few small warranty claims I had at the first oil change.Service manager there seems like a nice guy.

It doesn't sound like the new trans is working properly, you'll just have to see how it's working after the weekend is over. What exactly do you mean by the trans is flaring, is it shifting hard or what?

Man that sucks. It's scary too because I have noticed that my 2/3 shift has been getting firmer also. I thought it was just my imagination, but now I'm not so sure.

My 2-3 shift is also very firm, so you aren't the only one experiencing it. I'm gonna tune my car back to stock and take it to the dealer to have them check it out one day this week to see what they find.

This may interest some of you. Some Oz dealers are offering substantial modifications including power increases to 327 kilowatts or 350 kilowatts whilst still retaining the original new car warranty. 327 KW equates to 438 HP and 350 KW equates to 469 HP. The mods are fairly extensive and are not a huge amount on top of a standard SSV.
The example in the image below is $54000 drive away modified ute (438 horsepower) and for an unmodified SSV ute the price is $47000 driveaway - the same mods also apply to the SSV Commodore (G8). Modifications include the alloy roll bar behind the cabin, 20 inch rims Harrop brakes, extractors etc.

Well, you're supposed to have at least 12 pieces of flare. Seriously its the difference between liking your job and loving it.

haha good one, office space.

i think the guy is saying the tranny is slipping. i guess it continues to rev as the car is changing gears.

I have the 2-3 flare in manual and sport also (not in D). I'm debating whether or not to bring it in. I'm 100% stock. I don't want them to make things worse but I'm concerned that this flare might cause permanent damage down the road. There has been talk on this forum about some kind of internal seals needing to be replaced. Does anyone know if this seal problem can cause long term damage if not repaired?

I read that the flare/shift problem is caused by "foreign matter" in the valve body. I don't know if it will cause damage but the seals would probably get worse over time. But, that's just a guess.

For those of you with this issue, do you notice if it gets any better or worse after the car has been driven a while? With mine, the flare is almost completely gone by the time the transmission reaches 60* C. That takes about 10 miles of driving in 70 -80 degree temps. When I took mine in for service, the trans was too hot and it didn't have any symptoms so I've been waiting for cooler temps so I can get to the dealership with the problem still there.

I can't belive with all the complaints about this flare busines, they haven't had some sort of recall. For those the read the "other board" you know my pain right now, dealership saw my mods when i brought it in for the flare thing and apperantly called GM to void my warranty.

A good lawyer should be able to fix that for ya. They have to prove that a mod caused the issue.

They replaced the seals in my first transmission and it still didn't fix it. Which is the reason they ordered the new transmission to put it in. With as many people that have this issue it's not unlikely that both transmissions had the exact same issue.

As far as the car heating up and the problem going away, yes. I have noticed that the car operates perfectly with nice crisp shifts once the car is warmed up. And this is with a 100% stock TCM transmission.

Did you have any trouble getting them to acknowledge the problem? By the time I drive to the dealership, my tranny is warmed up. I left it overnight once but without me there to hold their hands, they didn't notice the problem. I'm thinking of trying another dealership (Cadillac) because I don't have a lot of faith in mine. After all, I had to explain to the tech how to check the fluid level from the instructions that he handed me.

No, they acknowledged the flare every single time. After the PIP-4395 work and even after installing the new tranny they were the ones that told me it was still flaring. They were very honest and I never felt they had even the smallest intention of trying to avoid any issues.

That's good to hear. Maybe I'll have better luck with the Caddy dealership. Maybe a "Caddy" transmission will work better. LOL

Mines in the shop now for the same thing (PIP-4395 ). They called me yesterday, the fluid was burnt and there was a bunch of metal shavings in the torque convertor. Awaiting a new one now.
